How do i increase my speed, endurance, and explosiveness for the college level??

I am 19 looking to try out for my college track team next year and I need to increase my speed and explosiveness to compete at that level. I am running about a 10.85 100m and only about a 23 on the 200m. My problem is that I am not very explosive off the start, and I am unable to maintain my speed for a distance (as seen in my 200m time).

What I am looking for is a program I can do weekly to improve for next year when I try out for my team. My main goals again are to get increases in:

Speed

Endurance

Explosiveness

If there is anyone who has an suggestions are an actual program i can run that would be great. If anymore info is needed let me know

Maybe you should ask the coach if you can train with the team this year and work on all these things and focus on getting better with out competing. I'm not sure how the coach at your school runs things, but perhaps you could talk to him/her about training without competing and then when next year's tryouts come, you would already have built a rapport with the coach and team as well as focused on your fitness and speed, thus increasing your chances of making the team!

I'd certainly agree with the answerer who said contact the coach, try out for the team, try to keep the coach's expectations down while you work out your technique. That is what coaches are for! Allegedly the great Pre even adjusted his running stride in response to Bowerman's recommendations!

Okay, I am looking for a lot of the same things you are looking for. Especially as I've aged as a runner, I've lost strength and speed to the aging process (and NOT to neglect, mind you).

So, I'm turning to following the advice of Michael Yessis who wrote the book "Explosive Running." No guarantees, now, I am just starting out. Likely I will be exclusively using the active cord medium for increasing flexibility, strength, and speed (and not machines nor weights).

So . . . you can track my progress in my weblog, judge its effectiveness as I go along . . . or get yourself a copy and consider and implement the techniques, yourself, slowly, and right away.

You're 19, young, strong, with but a few years of college elibility in the big scheme of things. Go for it!

    Hope this helps!!

Lots of squats. Uphill runs. Long distance runs. HIT THE WEIGHT ROOM, it should be your second home. Actually it should be your only home. Seek a trainer to take you to the next level and to give support and encouragement.:
