Why does society try so hard to change people with aspergers / autism!?

Do your thing and forget the world! I think people with aspergers are very intelligent and interesting people. Sometimes I wish I could see the world through their point of view!

hi--in case you think of this is merely a "portion of existence," then it is going to no longer difficulty you that lots. i'm fortunate to no longer have Aspergers Syndrome, yet I somewhat have extreme social rigidity & melancholy. no count number what people say Asperger's syndrome is a developmental ailment that has effects on a newborn's skill to socialise and communicate effectively with others. toddlers with Asperger's syndrome generally reveal social awkwardness and an all-soaking up pastime particularly matters. medical doctors crew Asperger's syndrome with 4 different situations that are called autistic spectrum themes or pervasive developmental themes. those themes all contain problems with social qualifications and verbal replace. Autism causes kids to experience the world differently from the way most other kids do. It's hard for kids with autism to talk with other people and express themselves using words. Kids who have autism usually keep to themselves and many can't communicate without special help.

Autism causes kids to act in unusual ways. They might flap their hands, say certain words over and over, have temper tantrums, or play only with one particular toy. Most kids with autism don't like changes in routines. They like to stay on a schedule that is always the same. They also may insist that their toys or other objects be arranged a certain way and get upset if these items are moved or disturbed.

If someone has autism, his or her brain has trouble with an important job: making sense of the world. Every day, your brain interprets the sights, sounds, smells, and other sensations that you experience. If your brain couldn't help you understand these things, you would have trouble functioning, talking, going to school, and doing other everyday stuff. Kids can be mildly affected by autism, so that they only have a little trouble in life, or they can be very affected, so that they need a lot of help.

It's the nature of social mammals to avoid others who are different. In our case, humans are smart so we try to force others to conform, because humans are pretty darned adaptable. I suspect the current movement towards tolerance of differences (different culture, religion, abilities and disabilities, etc etc.) is unprecedented in human history.

You will have to teach others to want you as you are. However, I have to say, my brother who probably has Asperger's never used to thank me even when I just killed myself to get some favor done for me. No thank you at all. He never offers to help with anything, he has to be told. Since he's an adult, others are unwilling to tell him to do stuff, so he ends up not helping. (doesn't get it that he is supposed to offer). There are all kinds of those little social glitches that can REALLY upset others. So you will need to accept that you will have to adapt at least some.

Good luck to you!! My brother just says he's being aspy when he screws up on a social thing or starts going on about chemistry or another niche subject. So we are aspy together, not that I have asperger's but I am geeky.

You say people are trying to make you live like the norm!

Yes you must be truely on a different planet because people are so different I can't possibly see what you could classify as being "Normal"!

Perhaps they're not trying to change the way you think but perhaps the way you do things.

There's a really big difference!

From birth we are instinctively guided by others to do as they do.

For some it may be a good thing.

For others it may mean strapping a bomb on your body and killing yourself as a sacrifice to an almighty invisible power.

For some its just teaching us common values.

For some its taking excess alcohol and other drugs.

There are so many guiding paths.

Is yours really that bad?

It is the job of all parents, of children with aspergers and of children without it, to prepare their children to live independently in the world. Which means being able to hold down a job.

If an adult with aspergers lives on government benefits, then the government tries to change them so it won't have to give them benefits.

If an adult with aspergers is able to hold down a job and support themselves, then people don't usually care.

People who try to change people with autism are crazy.

They should put themselves in your position for one day and see how they feel.

God created you that way and he made everyone unique

Your are a human being(not a lab rat) and should be treated like everyone else
