What does 12'' diameter mean?

the diameter is the measurement of the widest part of the circle, like if you were going to cut in in half. A medium pizza has roughly a 12" diameter. The " is used to denote inches. 12 inches (12") is also 1' or one foot. The radius is half the diameter. and is the measurement fromt he center of the circle to the outside so in the case the radius would be 6" or six inches.

I think you have failed physics. (')=feet (")= inches
Diameter is the distance from one side of a circle to the other (twice the radius).
