  • Religious People: Why worship God?

Is the God omniscient (all-knowing), omnipotent (all-powerful), and omnibenevolent (all-good)?

Some say the God is not omnibenevolent, but righteous, is it true? It certainly breaks some argument about if he is all good, why bad things happen etc.

Still, why worship a God who is not all good? He uses his judgement upon human for what purpose? If he is all powerful, all knowing, why not just make every human being good, take out the evil desires in human beings, then the problem is solved? He has to enslave us and punish us like his puppies if we don't behave, but still telling us he loves us, he would die for us, giving us free will to choose what dog food brand we want to eat.

Do we human still have any dignity left, willing to be ruled by such likely fictitious entity? Because we fear his punishment? or we are just happy to be good behaved dogs under our lord in this universe?

I have no disrespect of your religion(s). This is just a discussion why worship such God or Allah.

  • Atheists: Do you believe UFO Phenomenon?

I am an atheist. I do not understand why other atheists do not believe in UFO Phenomenon. The general claim is the lack of evidence. Here are some observations.

    UK Government's National Archives: http://ufos.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Is it government conspiracy? trying to trick us believing such thing so they can have total control of people's fear? Certainly possible.

Ancient Alien Documentary Series: go to YouTube search for it.

A lot of interesting observations, but some are kind of "overdoing" it.

Sightings from people, pilots, police, scientists, retired military, government officials: search YouTube.

Does rationality means do not trust any of these insane people's delusional experience? I do not know, maybe I'm too trusting...

I do not believe UFO, Aliens are paranormal, supernatural in any way. Everything is within nature. I'm simply exploring the possibility of the truth behind these phenomenons.

The little green men story hasn't been yet, unlike craziness of religious Bible stories. They might have technology so advanced we are not able to make the initial contact. They might be philosophical more advanced than us knowing human beings are not ready for their contact. They might not even come from space but from ocean. How much we really know about our ocean? Of course, these are just hypothesis, but ain't they possible? Does Evolution, Cosmetology, Biology, etc in anyway contradicts such theory?

Maybe I'm just too naive. Therefore I'm searching for critics to disapprove these evidences.

  • chance of getting into OTS?

I have been planning to become an Air Force Officer for a while now. I'm planning to apply before I get my Master's in Electrical Engineering with specialization in communication system and theory. I have a 3.6 undergrad GPA in Computer Engineering, and several research areas in embedded systems, and sensor network applications.

I'm a naturalized US citizen. My country origin is China. Does it post security clearance problem which might influence my chance of getting into OTS?

  • Work & Engery Problem?

A bullet having a mass of 5g is fired horizontally into a wooden block of 2.5 kg mass that is sitting at rest on a horizontal surface. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the surface is μk = 0.25. The bullet comes to rest in the wooden block, which moves a distance of 2 m along the surface. 1) How much work did the bullet do in pushing the block? 2) What was the speed of the bullet when it hit the block? 3) How much kinetic energy was absorbed by the block (i.e. how much energy was not available to push the block)?

  • Here's a Power Seires Problem?

Determine the interval of convergence of the series sum of 4/3*(-1)^k*x^k/(k+7)^(1/7) as k goes from 1 to infinity.

Below a is the left endpoint of the interval of convergence and b is right endpoint of the interval of convergence. ak is the kth term of the power series, e.g., ak=ck * x^k is the series is sum of ck * x^k as k goes from 1 to infinity.Enter the absolute value of t as abs(t).

    A geometric series has terms c*r^k with r > 0 and r not = 1. A p-series has terms k^p with p not = 0.

one of the questions is :

    (a) Find abs(a(k+1)/ak) (k is kth terms, is not a number or varible, it is a subcase, but I cannot type subcase here)

The problem is I don't get what is "a" ... it is the left endpoint of the interval of convergence of sum of 4/3*(-1)^k*x^k/(k+7)^(1/7) as k goes from 1 to infinity, or the sum of ck * x^k as k goes from 1 to infinity??? and what is "t"... and what are geometric and p series doing here?? I'm totally confused... anyone can help me?

  • linear momentum related problem?

The smoke detector in your house contains a very small quantity of the radioactive element Americium-241. Americium-241 decays by the emission of an α-particle into Neptunium-237. If the α-particle is found to have a velocity of 1.63 × 107 m/s and the Neptunium-237 nucleus has a velocity of –3.68 × 105 m/s, estimate the mass of the original Americium-241 nucleus. (The mass of an α-particle is 6.65 × 10-27 kg.)

  • Linear Momentum Question?

A space probe on its way to the Moon consists of a 900 kg Lander and an 1000 kg Orbiter. The Orbiter and the Lander arrive at the Moon as one unit and then are separated by means of explosive bolts. An impulse of 2000 N·s is imparted to the Lander and Orbiter by the detonation of the explosive bolts. What are the relative velocities of the Lander and Orbiter with respect to each other after detonation of the explosive bolts?
