Why so few 1920 x 1080 monitors?

1920 X 1080 is HDTV 's best resolution, yet few computer monitors meet or beat that resolution. Why is that?

    I think the 1920 resolutions require a 30" monitor. Plus you need a fairly descent graphics card to run that resolution.

    That is because for a computer 1920 x 1080 is a very high resolution for a computer, not many people have that much money to buy and most don't need it. For TV's however 1920 x 1080 is full high definition and is the standard for todays TV's.

    Difficult to make such a high resolution fit in such a small area as a computer screen. And it's also very expensive :)
