Removing hot glue from a jacket?

How would I remove hot crafting glue (already dried) from a jersey/sweatshirt type jacket? I thought of using acetone, but is that the right thing to do? I'm afraid if I use an iron with a towel or other similar technique, it will melt the glue further into the fabric since it's hot glue and not regular glue. Thanks for any advice!

Acetone would indeed remove the glue but acetone is really aggressive and could ruin the jersey.Try a spot on the inside of the waist band.
