Is my computer compatable with a new graphics card I'm thinking about buying?

Alright well my computer is a hp pavilion a6242n and after looking at the specs I realized it was running onboard graphics. Well I cant just leave it like it is so I figured I would upgrade to an actual graphics card. The computers specs are here http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/hp-pavilion-a6242n...

and the graphics card I'm looking at is here

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

I'm not extremely good with computers(as far as hardware goes) so I'm not sure if its compatible with the rest of my computer so I was wondering if you guys could help me out or offer another graphics card that would work as well. Any help would be great

You have a pretty good comp. A good gaming Processor. I didn't find out how much memory you have installed.........but I hope you have 4gig or at least 3gig with Vista. DDR2 is cheap.

Any way the card is just fine......don't know what the guy ment about not much better in games with a 22' monitor.

I too have the same card only the XFX XXX version and I have a 22" ACER and it runs games really well. Crysis on medium a couple settings on high and get good FPS with no lag at all. You could google RivaTuner and download it and OC your card easily if you need to.

Go for it you will be happy.......It's not hard to install a video card. You will have to go into the bios and disable the on-board video and select PCI-E once the card is installed. If you need help when you get the card e-mail me and I will walk you through it.

well i checked your mother board and you do have the right slot, but the graphics card you want probably wont make much of a difference when you are gaming on a 22". This is my old graphics card, one of the best for value in my opinion http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

With this you will probably be able to play new games at medium graphics.
