INDIA- Is a 500sq foot apartment big enough for 1 person?

I'm moving to Mumbai for 6 months at the end of the year. I'm looking at affordable 1 Bedroom apartments no more than 19000 rupies per month. There seem to be a lot of 500 sq feet apartments in this price range. How big is this? Is it big enough for just one person?

Also, if anyone has advice on a good way to find an apartment there, in or around Lokhandwala in Andheri please get in touch.

Update:

Doesn't have to be Lokhandwala, anywhere around Andheri, etc. I don't really know Mumbai, but want someplace close to shops etc

Should be enough for you. Normally a nuclear family goes for such an area. ( nuclear family = 1 man + 1 woman + 1kid).

You could easily get an apartment for the mentioned rent, I feel. But one can never be sure as the the realty market is too volatile ( particularly in posh localities like Lokhandwalas ).

Contact local estate agent /dealer. They are the best sources. You need to pay some commission/brokerage to them. Else surf websites like magicbricks etc. You can even ask around if you have relatives / friends in the area.

May I ask : why Lokhandwalas only?

    Best luck.

500 sq foot is a very small apartment. But one person can easily live. More then one , it will be a problem. I thnik in mumbai you can get bigger flat in that much rent. For rearching you would have to purchase weekly freeads newspaper. That is the best way. Otherwise you can contact some property dealer also.
