Ramadan Users _ inspired by a question from @Serenity?

if you are walking by night time on top of a bridge that crosses over a railroad track, and bellow it(the bridge), you see a train passing through and on the other side (other side of the bridge not @otherside the user) you notice that there are several people crossing the railroad.

if the train continues to move normally then the several people will be crashed and killed and you have no way of making them run because they are pretty far... however on the bridge, a one single man is passing by, and you can push him toward the train and therefore make the train brake in order to save the several people from a certain death.

will you push the one guy to save the many? or will you leave the many people to their faith? why or why not?

Update:

ok, since some people are so smart which is good, the other part of the question:

now if you answered that you wouldn't push the guy. lets change scenario, the train is running on a splitter on one side there are several people and on the other side there is just one man, the train will hit the "many people" if left alone, and you are next to the switch handle ! would you use the switch so the train leave its original track and therfore sparing the "several people" life but will kill the "one person" on the other track.

given the speed of the train, (even at about 20 mph), the train, if it tried to stop, would stop miles beyond the people ahead. the death of the man on the bridge walking by would not stop the train or save those on ahead as the train has too much mass to stop like a car or truck does.

most operators of engines will not break hard unless their life is in danger as it causes the wheels to become flat on one side and all of the wheels on that train will have to be replaced.

some countries actually give bonus to operators that do emergency stops without wheel damage, (that is plowing through the object ahead.)

this may not sit well with you, but the reality is, there are forces you can not resist once in motion.

well since the guy above is a physics major. lol. If the train would somehow actually be able to stop, then i would sacrifice that one man.

Why? Because if Allah (SWT) is helping me realize that i can save those lives, and he is telling me in my heart i have the ability to save several people with the sacrifice of one, then i wil follow my heart, close my eyes, say "Bismillah" and pull the handle. Afterwards I will cry and get depressed for the rest of my life and will feel guilty. lol. But I will pray and ask for forgiveness for the one life that was lost because of me, but by the will of Allah (SWT) I will realize it was for the best, and it was the most civil and moral thing to do.

    I'd do neither.

I'd probably sit back, light a cigarette and watch in amusement as all the other Yahoo:Answers contributors fell over each other either trying to push the single man in front of the train or trying to get to the unwitting mass of soon-to-be-minced people before it's too late.

What a great idea for a gameshow!!!

this may well be an excellent Maiden music! My call is from the Radiohead album and my modern-day avatar is the conceal of loss of life's "guy or woman concept varieties". I used to have "The hyperlink" by using Gojira and "with the aid of Silver In Blood" by using Neurosis as my avatar. i don't placed that lots concept into an avatar photograph - if i think of it seems good i'm going to place it up.

Instead of pushing the man, why don't you do something yourself?
