what would you choose ? (just for fun)?
You are working at a train station, and while a train is passing by on track1, you notice a little far ahead on track1, a group of people crossing. If the train continues on its way it will kill them all.
However, you can just pull a switch to make the train change tracks and save the group of people, but on the other track "track2" is a man crossing! and if you use the switch, that man will be hit by the train.
so what would you do?
A- nothing and leave the group of people to their faith?
B- pull the switch, save the group of people BUT drive the train to hit the one person?
its not a trick question or anything, its a question usually asked on job interviews. just wanted to share.
@Adnan
no C answer, just A or B
@Didi @fidrale
no yelling...
and if you touch the switch you didnt leave the one man to his faith YOU deliberately killed him !
@Adnan
sure ill do it.
@Anita
well, i would do the same theoretically, but i don't think the question is about choosing between to evils, its more about choosing between either to be involved in that situation or just let things be the way they are.
@Anita
do i know whats gods plan? do you?

C- Stop the train and get the nutjobs of the train tracks.
Sami- Can you give me best answer for the riddle question now? I need the points!
B then. Hopefully the guy I kill would be a murder.
Thanks Sami!

Well, since this isn't a trick question and there isn't a secret "C" hidden there...
If I saw the switch, I would press it. However, you have to know that my answer is solely based on my faith in God.
First of all, I'm thinking that if God didn't want me to use the switch, I wouldn't have seen the switch in the first place or there wouldn't have even been a switch.
Second of all, I believe that you can't escape death. If death is going to come to you, there's not way to stop it, because it's God's Will. Whether it's in your home, your office, in the streets, it will come to you.
Third of all, I think I know why this question is asked at interviews. Are they trying to test your capacity to judge in cases of extreme danger or nessecity and take risks? Personally, I find it a bit appalling, especially when you're putting somebody else's life at stake.
i would switch the tracks to the ONE man blow the horn like crazy and slam the breaks with all my might =)
Oh darn.. no answer C =( but anyway i'd be in so much shock, id probably would hit the group of people knowing my astonishment would take over my ability to switch the tracks ='( Sorry .. but A lol

i dont think i would be in the mental state to sit there and ponder everybody's fate. i think i would most likely start screaming about run and get out of the way. if by some sheer luck i DO have the capcity at the time to think clearly, i would save the group and leave the lone one to his fate.

I would flip the switch. Even though it would make me responsible for the man's death, it is better to save the many than the one.

(B) because it is the lesser of two evils.
I'm sure you asked this question before?
Edit: @sami... ok I see what you mean. Well as an atheist I do not believe in fate, so this is why I said (B). You are religious, and therefore must believe that it must have been their fate or God's plan for them to die.... so can I ask why you would intervene? Is that not interfering with God's plan?

I guess the most resonable thing to do is save the group of people for the one guy, so B.

save the group of people, that way less people are killed
but....i'd die to make that decision on who gets to live, but
the most humane thing would be to save as many people
as possible, then i'd probably shout at the top of my lungs
for that man to move out the way...
=)=)=)

pray that if i pull the switch nobody gets hurt and i save both of their life.but maybee b

I would not sacrifice the lone person to save those careless ones.
He does not deserve that.
