What to get - really tight budget?

I am going to study next year and I have very little spending money this year for Christmas since my savings for studies are basically everything I earn at the moment. My husband loves outdoors things, I wanted to get him surfing lessons but that is way out of the budget. He is 33, a computer geek who actually doesn't play that many games and he would like most things. I like to usually get him something that he would love - not too difficult but on a budget it becomes tricky to get something really great that doesn't cost too much..

My husband is a computer geek himself.  I was on a really tight budget last year.  My daughter had just started college, etc. so I didn't have much to spend.  I got him a few magazine subscriptions to computer magazines.  I got him Computer Shopper and a gaming magazine.  Depending on what aspect of computers he is interested in, there are all kinds of magazines.  My husband looks forward to getting his magazine each month and asked for me to renew them this year.
