I would just put your first and last name and what club you play for. That way they wont be confused at all with who they're talking to. But if your younger than a junior, they can't email you back because of the NCAA rules. its stupid, but those are the rules.

    Emailing College Coaches

  • 1 decade ago

Subject lines in emails are not that important. I get everything from "Request for information" to "Hey Coach." I'll admit to shaking my head at less useful headers like, "hi" or "how r u?" or "wassup?"

    Good subject lines:

"Outside Hitter interested in <name of university>"

    "Volleyball player with recruiting question"

"Lefty RS will be at Far Westerns on <date>"

    Bad subject lines:

    "how r u?"

    "ne interest?"

    "I am awesome"

Whatever you do, make sure everything in your email -- including the subject line -- is spelled correctly. When I get an email from a potential player that is full of grammatical and spelling errors, I am less likely to take that person seriously. Academics are important and if you appear illiterate and unable to communicate effectively, you won't be able to be admitted to my university even if you're the best player in high school.

Be business-like, avoid jargon and slang, and do your best to express your interest in that coach's program in a positive way.
