Name your favorite couple from any novel, and explain why?
I'm just curious. Please, try not to mention Edward and Bella or Bella and Jacob or anyone from Twilight.
A couple of my favorite couples have to be:
Lygia and Vinicius from 'Quo Vadis. Their love is just so pure. It's the love between a Christian slave girl and a Roman pagan general.
Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester. I think this one was already explained. :]
Nix and Francis from Breathe My Name. Francis just reminds me so much of myself. She's quiet and 4foot 11 in height, and she's able to find a guy that understands her.

Mine is Rochester and Jane from Jane Eyre. They complete each other so well: filling in for the other's weaknesses, smoothing each other's flaws down, sustaining each other's passions. They create a perfect balance.

Well this won't be a novelty as my favorite couple is also Jane Eyre and Rochester.
My reason for liking them though is different. Charlotte Bronte described a couple that didn't have a boring romantic relationship the kind "whatever you want my dear", but created a realistic and highly competitive relationship where both persons sway between having their way and the upper hand of the other and between submitting to feel the power of their beloved person. A fight between love and independence that creates an impression of equality and an unforgettable sexual tension.
Another couple I like is Bathesda and Oak from "Far from the madding crowd" although he is a superior to her as a person.

Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester.
Jane was a poor governess and Rochester was rich. He was over twenty years older than her, and he had a wife. Neither of them were beautiful. And yet, somehow, they managed to fall in love. Despite all the things that were fighting against them, in the end they were together. I love the idea of two people who can overcome anything because of their love for one another.

Jane Eyre and Edward Fairfax Rochester, also.
They're such a lovely couple. Despite Jane being little and plain and 'obscure', Mr. Rochester still loved her dearly, he who had amounts of money that could impress any high-ranked, pretty girl like Blanche Ingram. And yet he chose Jane.

Katniss and Peeta from 'The Hunger Games' mainly because you can totally tell he is head over heals for her, but she thinks he is only pretending so that they can get support and help when they need it. As well that when she has to convince the audience (this is a show after all) that she does love Peeta, Peeta starts to think she isn't pretending, and she starts to stop pretending and really does like him, and then just when he figures out she was pretending the book stops and you have to wait to find out what happens to them.
But a well written couple. They don't see each other and fall head over heals in seconds. I love them.

ooh. Well I Iove the book The Notebook, so Allie and Noah from The Notebook! They are so young and yet so in love. And I love how Noah stays by Allie in her older years when she has Alzheimer's and tries to help her remember. It is such a beautiful story.
