I got an invitation today that states that men should wear a coat and tie and women should dress accordingly. ?
What would that mean to you? It's a business type meeting, and it's going to involve some outdoor walking so whatever I wear is going to have to be warm. I thought about a skirt with tights, but I'm afraid it will be too casual and cold. This will be my first introduction to these people so I'm looking to make a good impression. Thanks.

wear pantyhose and a skirt with a nicer collared shirt.
the new vests that are in style also helps to make you look classy but not too professional.
and flats instead of high heels will A) satisfy you feet and B) help you to not be over dressed.

First impressions are so important. So its a Business meeting dress to impress! A nice simple dress or skirt and a jacket. Be warm but when you shed that jacket look well dressed. Simple but stunning, nice earrings a simple necklace. Boots with a heel or a lower high heal since you'll be walking. However don't fuss to much, as your introduction of your self will be more out standing if you feel comfortable, walk and talk with self confidence. All the rest will fall into place .

It would depend on how and where she wears the men's shirt. If she wears it casually at the beach as a bathing suit cover-up, or as a top shirt over a tank top with women's pants around the house, at the park, or to the store it's ok. If she wears the same shirt buttoned up as a dress shirt like a man would wear it, it would not look as good.

It means business wear, not business casual. So, a suit or a dress or your idea of skirt with tights. Or wool business slacks & a sweater. But nothing showing too much leg or cleavage.

Ask around! Ask anyone you know whos going what they are wearing! If that doesn't help, I think that maybe a cocktail dress or a long dres..

maybe like a semi-formal dress, or a nice skirt with a nice top. go to a store and bring the invitation and they should tell you what will be good :)

A women's suit.
You know, trouser suit thing, a nice smart one.
Probably with flats or low heels if you are walking abouts.
