  • Best grassroots ideas for driving traffic into a retail store?

I'm a new store manager with a well know retail company. The company itself is doing fine, but the store that I am taking over has had a serious decline in foot traffic over the past couple of years. While our location isn't the best, its also not awful. Our customer service appears to be on par both from what I've seen and feedback that customers leave. So, I've been tasked with setting up a grassroots marketing style campaign to attract new customers. I really think the challenge is location. We're kind of out of sight out of mind because we're in the back of a shopping center. I'm new to the area though, so I'm a little lost on where to even start. Any ideas from other store managers on how to remind customers that we really do exist? Any sort of mailer would be prohibited as those come straight from corporate, and we literally have no budget to make this happen with.

  • I just got unofficially laid off from a FT job in FL. The official conversation will take place at the end of this week. Need advice!?

I've been told unofficially that my job will probably be given an end date that's about 8 weeks out because my manager whom I've been filling in for is on an extended leave of absence, and they want him to come back before they push me out. To qualify for unemployment, do I need to stay the entire 8 weeks. I'm really frustrated because I'm currently doing my job plus my bosses with no additional compensation. My gut is to walk, but my brain knows better. Also, I've been told that they want to keep me because I have more experience than anyone else on staff and my boss will need another extended leave of absence next year, so they'll offer to let me keep my pay and take a demotion to a PT position. I need a FT position, so I'm going to be seriously searching for work, but should I not get another job by the termination date, should I take the demotion. Will that affect my unemployment benefit? Can I claim partial unemployment? I've never been here before, so let me know if you think that I need to ask/demand something that I'm not thinking about now. I've already been told to ask about severance, benefits, and leftover PTO. Whatever you've got, throw it at me.

  • Interviewing for a store management position this afternoon (currently an ASM). What are the best questions I could ask the interviewer?

I already have a general list that I plan on using. Just making sure that I'm not missing anything pertaining to the store management position in particular. In your opinion, any questions that I definitely should or should not ask about the store that I will potentially be taking over?

  • Iced protien coffee recipe?

I am trying to slowly change my eating habits so that I am eating clean and healthier. My regular breakfast is an Atkins brand cafe caramel or mocha latte shake. My mornings are crazy, and these provide a lot of protein and a kick of caffeine that when coupled with a bowl of fruit is low calorie and holds me over until lunch. Does anyone have a recipe for something similar to this? I need it to be something that I can make ahead of time (prob. Sunday night) and store in the fridge for the week in order to accomodate my grab and go mornings. Like Atkins, it also needs to be full of protein in order to keep me satisfied until lunch.

  • Good all-inclusive US vacation spot in January?

Looking for an all-inclusive spot to vacation in January. Would actually prefer something with snow as we are from the south and beaches are a regular part of life. Looking for something where we don't have to drive. You honestly don't want a Florida driver taking on snow ;) Also looking for something with a little more than skiing just in case we don't enjoy it (never been before). Any ideas?

  • Do you have any healthy fruit salad recipes?

I know that you don't need a recipe to make a fruit salad, but I'm not very creative with fruit combinations. I've been making a salad with apples, bananas, strawberries, almonds, vanilla yogurt, and cinnamon. It's good, but I'm getting a little tired of the combination. Does anyone have any combos that they really like? I'm really looking for healthy ideas that do not contain too much or any added sugar. Thanks in advance!

  • Is there any offensive language in the book "The Lincoln Lawyer?" If there is how much does it contain?

My grandmother loves to read, but she is a very conservative lady. I haven't had the opportunity to read the book yet so I'm not sure if it would offend her or not. Pretty much if you wouldn't let your child read it, she won't read it either. Thanks y'all!

  • Is walking in New York City during the day between the Empire State Building and Ground Zero considered...?

to be feasible or safe? We will be leaving in a few days for a trip to the city, and our hotel is right at the Empire State Building. We would like to avoid taxi's and subways if possible. The plan is for us to walk to Ground Zero first thing Sunday morning, see the site, and explore the city as we spend the day making our way back to the hotel. We were thinking of sticking primarily to Park Avenue and Broadway. Oh, if anyone has any idea how long it would take to walk those three-ish miles that would be great information to. Thanks in advance!

  • What are the best places in the Raleigh, NC area to see fall foliage?

I'm thinking of visiting near the end of October, and I've heard that the foliage should be perfect. Are there any drives or areas that you would recommend?

  • How safe is Greensboro, NC's Amtrak station?

If I take Amtrak, I'll be stuck at this station for about 6 hours around midnight. I'm a female, traveling alone. How secure is the station? I'd feel alright about doing this if it's secure as an airport, but my understanding is that anyone can come and go as they please. Just don't want to get stuck there with a bunch of bums looking for a handout or anything.

  • I'm not sure whether this is in Hebrew or Arabic, but can someone translate it into English for me?

I don't want a translation of the entire web page. I simply want to know what kind of page it is. I'm guessing it's an email service like yahoo, but I'm not sure. So, if someone could confirm that for me, that would be amazing! Here's the link: http://www.tapuz.co.il/Forums2008/ForumPage.aspx?F...

  • Any resort recommendations or ideas in the Southeast region besides Disney?

Looking for a resort that we can relax at for a week the summer. We have done Disney before so that's out, but I am looking for somewhere similar to Disney. It doesn't have to be as big, but family and budget friendly is a definite plus. Yes, Disney costs a small fortune, but all of the resorts that I have looked into cost much more. Oh, I don't have small children so nothing too young a water park or something along those lines would be right up their alley. Thanks!

  • First time flying. How do I check in? Any tips?

I'm flying Delta, and I know that there is an option to check in online. I'm not checking any bags so if I check in online do I need to do anything when I get to the airport, or do I just go straight to security. Are the paper tickets that I can print off of Delta all that I need? And when I get to Atlanta for my layover, do I need to check in anywhere there, or do I just wait for my next flight to arrive? Thanks in advance for all of the help! Oh, if anybody has any other tips about flying, feel free to add them to the comments section.

  • 2003 Ford Taurus stalls ?

After driving the car yesterday, I noticed that something was beginning to squeak. I assumed it was the belt and made a note to check it when I got the chance. Today, I started the car and it immediantly got jumpy. I was startled so I looked down at my dash and the rpms were jumping around like crazy. They weren't going way high though. They just wouldn't stabalize. I reved the engine a little and then put on the brakes and it leveled out. Thirty minutes later while sitting at a red light, the car stalled on me. I immediantly turned it off and then restarted it and everything started fine. The only time that I have seen any engine lights come on was when the car stalled. Any ideas?

  • I got an invitation today that states that men should wear a coat and tie and women should dress accordingly. ?

What would that mean to you? It's a business type meeting, and it's going to involve some outdoor walking so whatever I wear is going to have to be warm. I thought about a skirt with tights, but I'm afraid it will be too casual and cold. This will be my first introduction to these people so I'm looking to make a good impression. Thanks.

  • I am looking for some suggestions for a Southern Baptist church in the Wake Forest/Raleigh area. Any ideas?

I will be moving to Wake Forest in a couple of months, and I am looking for a good Southern Baptist church in that area. Specifically, I am looking for a large church with a strong children's program, a decent college program, and a emphasis on community outreach (a social ministry or church community office would be a major plus). Any suggestions?

  • What is the typical lifespan of a 35mm Minolta camera?

I am looking to buy one that is about 12 years old. It's $50, and the main draw is that it has a telephoto lense with it. I would really like to experiment some with a telephoto lense, but this is the only way that I can afford one. Do you think that it is worth the money? Thanks
