What are the best places in the Raleigh, NC area to see fall foliage?
I'm thinking of visiting near the end of October, and I've heard that the foliage should be perfect. Are there any drives or areas that you would recommend?

You would be much better off heading west out of Raleigh to the mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway would be my pick. The fall foliage there is like nowhere else I have ever been. The colors will be on the decline by the end of October but there should still be some good viewing. The peak is usually about the 2-3 weeks of October.
Have fun

If you can't afford London, have you thought of somewhere which has good road and rail links to the Capital? I'm thinking Bristol - good University, lovely City, good night life, lovely countryside, airport (outside of the City), good teaching Hospitals, theatres (Peter O'Toole started his career there) and a Theatre school, great history. A good idea is to pick a few Cities dotted around the Country and contact the County or City Tourist Information Offices for each. Ask them to send details of "What's On", "Places to see and Things to do" in their respective areas. There are some good schools in Bristol which offer VIth form courses - Colstons, Clifton, Redmaids Plenty of student accommodation in and around the City, and you can hop on a train or a coach to London for your vacations.
