Voice your opinion on Barack Obama as the new president?

Look how far we have come as a nation I am overwhelmed at the fact we have a president who has so much promise. Whether or not you like Barack Obama, whether or not you agree with him the least you can do is respect him, he's accomplished something you haven't he now has the responsibility of leading this nation, our nation. I know there are mixed feelings from close-minded conservatives who aren't open to a president who isn't white. What I can't stand is the people who say "he isn't black he is half white"...when these are the people who see someone on the street corner with dark skin and assume they are black. and WHAT DOES IT MATTER WHAT COLOR HIS SKIN IS??? You don't have to admit it or defend it for that matter, however, you should just value the fact that you live in such a great country where you can disagree without being prosecuted. Whether or not you agree with me on my beliefs, Barack Obama is our new president.

Update:

I asked for you all to voice your opinion not attack mine. I did respect George Bush and I never pointed my finger and blamed him personally I understand he had to make some tough decisions and I respect him for making his decisions even if I didn't always agree. Call me what you want, I have my beliefs, and I have reasons for my beliefs as I'm sure all of you do. I am a liberal I won't deny it (as if its hard to figure that one out haha) the only point I was trying to get across was we have changed as a country, change I believe will continue to have a positive outcome it's only the beginning, that I understand, but I do apologize if anyone felt as though I attacked them. As for same-sex marriage, abortion and all of the other touchy subjects I don't care to go into detail about now, If you want, I'd be more than happy to discuss my beliefs via e-mail but for the comment on "baby-genocide" no one is pro abortion...

Hey, you'd better "toughen up" because now it's his turn to be criticized for everything he does and everything that happens in the country whether it is his fault or not (like Bush has been blamed for everything). He's the president now and with that honor/title goes the responsibility. Bush has been blamed for the cumulative actions of the presidency and congress. The national debt wasn't "created under Bush" it increased just like it has for decades. It can't be claimed, "You're just picking on him (Obama) because he's black" - presidents have endured that critique for as long as I can remember. There's one other thing to keep in mind - that people have legitimate complaints/differences with Obama's platform and everything can't be attributed to "race hate". Personally I could be accused of being a "one issue voter" in that I have voted in many elections based on the candidates stand on abortion. Based on that alone I am against Obama. He supports even freer limits on abortion. Everytime someone accuses "race hate" opposition to Obama, I'm going to scream about baby killing. I don't care if he's black (or half black or whatever) - I care that he supports expanding baby genocide. Edit: "No one is pro-abortion ?? You'd better go read up on Obama's support of the Freedom of Choice act and what it supports.

All right - you know what, it doesn't have anything to do with being "Close-minded conservative". It has to do with his opinions as a politician. But it is so much easier for you just to attack our party and our color rather than our opinions, am I correct?

I hope Obama is a fantastic President. And (just to attack you like you attacked me) unlike all of the minority democrats who drove around with "F the President" stickers on their cars - I WILL stand behind him, and support his as our President, because I am a citizen.

well now it's time to act, we will see what kind of experience he really has. The good promises are something he's going to have a hard time fulfilling. I just hope he has all Americans at heart and not just the chosen few. I didn't vote for him but I wish him the best. Our futures count on his actions. We need way more than just a good speaker.

Lets watch and see if the administration does what he says it will try to do, time will tell. He can't fix it all, however, the country may move in a new direction with his leadership which can be great...

To be blunt and honest, when he does something I will gt mad or happy. Right now, he hasn't done anything for me to feel about him at all. I wish him the best, but when it comes down to it, he is a politician and I never met one that didn't leave me feeling like I just met a greasy used car salesman. Thats both parties. They are all bought and paid for, the trick is in finding out who owns them.

On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.

We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things.

The Daily Mail wrote this editorial about Obama on 1/6/2009.

    Obama's Victory -- A British view

A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the US mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshipers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult.

A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood , the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros, Moore, and Sarandon.

Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.

Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshipers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers' unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.

A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.

    Congratulations America !
