Cooling Fan stays on in my Lincoln LS?

I have a 2001 Lincoln LS. About 3 months ago this started happening, EXCEPT my car would overheat BAD, and I would have to pull over and let it cool off before driving. Took it in and it was the thermastat, which they fixed, no problems since! Just this week, the cooling fan has started to come on, however, my temp doesnt go up, it does slightly but not enough to notice any change! What in the world could that be?? As my car isn't overheating!

Update:

Yes, the windshield defrost is on everytime as it is winter here, I rarely drive without my heat blasting lately!

Since it overheated, maybe the radiator fan temperature coolant temperature sensor is bad. Next you'd check the fan relay that the temperature sensor switches on to turn the radiator cooling fan on. Look up the parts and service information on http://www.autozone.com/

"Quit Running when you Start It?" OK, You have two Fans in the radiator area! One for the A/C that Runs all the time the A/C is on, The other is the Radiator fan that Cycles as the Engine Heats & Cools. Radiator Year 1999 and about is controlled by the Temperature Sensor mounted behind the Thermostat with a "Signal" through the ECM (Computer). A few things can make it not work; incorrect Coolant Mixture, Low Coolant, Thermostat not opening, Bad Fan Motor, loose Plug at Fan

    HI

The motor fan does not come on just when the car is over heating it comes on when it reaches a set Temperature usually when the gage is in the middle but can be anywhere in between. If its not over heating then the fan is doing its job.

    good luck

On the bottom of the radiator or on the fan it's self is a thermal switch that turns the fan on.

    Maybe it's bad?

    Maybe it's a bad relay?

    Maybe your radiator is plugged?

Maybe your water pump is worn out?

    Maybe you're low on coolant?

Maybe the gage on your dash is bad?

Is it set on defrost? If so the A/c is turning it on to dry the windshield air.
