RSV shots are usually only recommended (and covered by insurance) for preemies and children with cardiac / lung issues. My daughter is getting Synagis.

My daughter is a twin, low birth weight, born at 37 weeks and has a heart defect so it was recommended for her . . . she has had it for the past 3 months and will have her next one on Tuesday. So far, so good. She is a bit tired afterwards and a bit sore (or so it seems) at the injection site but she is not sick. We give her Infant Tylenol drops before the shot and then for the next 48 hours every 4 - 6 hours.

How sick is he? I would consider a second opinion or to discuss it further with the doctor. It is definitely important as RSV could be deadly for a preemie.

our son has only had 1 so far...he goes in a couple more weeks for his next one. We didn't have any problems with it. (he was premature as well). I just had to pop a bottle in his mouth shortly after he got his shot to settle him down while we waited the 20 minutes before we could leave just to make sure he didn't have a reaction. Its not something that they HAVE to have, but be warned though...my aunt is a nurse and told me today that they are seeing all kinds of babies in the hospital with RSV...your call.

  • My daughter has gotten 4 shots now. She was born at 28 weeks. They don't make her sick, only tired that night and most of the next day.

The nurse that comes to our house and gives them to her says if she is going to have a reaction to them it would be right away, and that they might cause to feel icky for the next day or so. So far they haven't.

How long is he sick for?
