Why does gum lose flavor and dries your mouth out ?

The flavouring and sugar from the gum dissolve into your salvia and you taste it and swallow it. You aren't just tasting the gum - you're tasting the sugars and flavours that come out of the gum when you chew it.
If it dries out your mouth it's probably either you're chewing it too long, or you are dehydrated.

The sugar goes away as you chew, and as you chew, your mouth is slightly open, and the saliva gets a chance to evaporate.

because its naturally absorbs your saliva! some types of gums don't like trident, orbit, juicy fruit and double mint.
