Can a Caryard extra charges on top of a price, if I was given a statement with total balance owing?

This is in New Zealand but I am currnetly living in Australia.

Update:

I am paying off a car that I hire purchased a few years ago. It was repossessed due to my bad money management and when I got it out I was given a total outstanding bill of certain amount. Now I have been told that I owe more due to annual interest rates??? Should this not have been included in the total outstading bill I recieved.

If you have a total to be paid this usually is the amount due including interest. If no payments have been paid towards this amount, interest can acrue on the outstanding amount.

Maybe you should seek legal advice on this matter.
