Maybe you can try RZ DVD Creator, i have used it, it can create standard video DVD, it can directly convert and burn any videos to DVD(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-DL, DVD+DL, etc), such as avi to DVD, etc. it
can burn multi videos to one disc, it can auto adjust the videos size and keep the better quality.
Work well on my computer, you can download it from here:
Hope it can help you.

First of all, you have to see if they would all fit onto a typically 4.7GB DVD. Next, you need to get some DVD Authorizing software, like DivX Author, Nero, Windows Movie Maker, etc. They work differently, but with most of them, you can customize your menus, your chapters (in your case - movies would be chapters), and a whole lot of other things. I can't really help from here since they all work differently.
One last tip is that the DVD Authorizing software usually changes the size of the movie. DivX Author tells you how much memory it will take up on the DVD, so you have to make sure it's all under 4.7GB.
Hope this helps!

regular blank dvd comes in size of 4.7GB,you can use nero burner(latest version) to burn the dvd, just burn the dvd as 'data dvd' and the movies can be played on any dvd player(under condition that the dvd player supports the format of video file of movies.
the ripped movies generally comes in .avi format, which is supported by every dvd player now days(if you have new one,or bit older will also do)

The videos may be in the wrong format for a DVD. DVD players only play certain types of files while computers can play nearly all types as long as you have the software.

You may download this DVD burning software for a try, I always use it to convert and burn video to DVD to play on my home DVD player, my friends recommend it to me, it's safe and works pretty well for me. And here is a step by step guide about how to download and use it

The space is limited as you probably know. When you burn a movie, or whatever you put on a CD it closes the disk, meaning you cannot erase or write anything further to that disk. Can't help you with the other questions.
