what is easier to travel with, a backpack or a suitcase?

Im heading off to the UK for five months by myself and am wondering what would be more convenient to pack my stuff in, a backpack or a suitcase? I will probably be staying in youth hostels for a few weeks and then will find myself a flat. what is more convenient? please help as I dont want to be struggling with my luggage when I arrive there.

Thanks

well it depends. i think that a backpack if you are a somewhat light packer. because you put it on your back and then your off. but a suit case you can roll and it can be more convient if you have a lot of stuff and back problems. but for me i would get a back pack most deff. trust me, you would not have to worry about pulling it everywhere. but if you pack heavy i would say a suit case, because you dont want it to hurt your back. but good luck :)

I say Back Pack, if you need anything else your family can post it to you, or you can by it.
