two questions.................................?

When did you stop using dreft? My two month old is getting the cold we have (started with my 15 month old) and it comes with a sore throat and mine has a chesty cough. I think hes getting it his nose is stuffy tonight and hes acting fussy. I gave him some tylenol to help him sleep so he would feel better but do you know anything else I can do other than the humidifier, steamy bathroom, snot sucker (bulb syringe), saline nose drops and lots of love that I can do? Im going to bring him to the doctor monday but I know they cant do anything so Im not sure what they would say. Any tips I dont want him to end up in the hospital. Thanks!

You are doing an amazing job! Everything that you can be doing you are doing!

As far as the dreft..I actually use Hypoallergenic All..all free and clear..It's the same and cost less..I usually use that for all my white clothes as well..I use it for at least 2 years on the babies clothes.

    Hope you all feel better!

Unless you have noticed a sensitivity to laundry detergent, then it fine to switch now. You probably would have noticed if your detergent that you use on your clothes is to harsh, because really, you baby is always laying there head on your shirts and such, so they should be able to handle it.

Fragrance free detergent is just as good a dreft as well, BUT, much cheaper. I have always used fragrant free detergent, so I never thought dreft was needed.

As far as the cold, sounds like you have really all my tricks covered, also just be sure to keep fluids going.

Try not to fret too much, lots of babies get colds early on, and do not end up in the hospital.

    Hope it passes soon!

I never used Dreft. I use All Free & Clear. It is much cheaper and smells much better.

As for the cold - If he doesn't have a fever, you just need to offer him comfort as you have been. I would check on using Tylenol in a 2 month old for a cold though. I have a vague recollection that using Tylenol in a young infant for a cold can make it worse. You may want to just call and ask the doc that question.

I never used dreft. I used regular laundry detergent and my kids were fine. As for you 2 month all getting a cold it sounds like you are doing every thing that you can do to. Just keep a close eye on him and if he gets worse before monday take him to the ER.

    1. I used dreft with my first and stopped using it at about 6 months. With my second, I've always used regular detergent and he hasn't had any rashes, etc... I swear, regular detergent is just fine.

    2. As far as the cold... you are doing all you can humanly do. Hang in there!!! I swear they always get sick on the weekend when the pediatrician is closed!

never used Dreft. that detergent is a "hook line and sinker". it's the same thing as any clear detergent.

and im sure you've heard this before, but with the problems your baby is having now, plus the problems you've posted about in the past (hard poop, post partum depression, colicky baby, acid reflux, etc ..) are all outcomes of formula feeding. (not giving you crap, a lot of people just don't know this)

I think you have it under control. I always found that sitting with my son in the bathroom while my husband showered always worked best and then breastfeed and he slept for quite a while - and then when he woke up during the night (terrible sleeper regardless of having a cold) I would use the disgusting bulb syringe thing and then breastfeed him again. It's good that you're taking your baby to the doctor. I always appreciated the peace of mind as well.

Source(s): Sorry - forgot about the dreft portion of your question. I never used it. I just used our regular laundry detergent and just did an extra rinse. Never had any issues.

i never started w/dreft. i bought dye free scent free purell so i could wash my daughters clothing w/my husband and mine so that i didn't waste money on seperate washes.

i dont think that there is anything besides what you listed that can make your lil one feel better. sounds like you know what you're doing! make sure he's well hydrated of course and if his temp goes above his norm take him to the hospital right away just to stay on the safe side.

    hope he feels better!

I bought one bottle of dreft before he was born and used it till it was gone.

Regular laundry soap never bothered him.
