Time to sack Daley & the rest of the Selectors?

Interesting to note that before the City vs Country quote me if I'm wrong, but Daley said that Kimorely wouldn't get a shot because he was looking at the future of NSW Team and Kimorely was to old? I thought City vs Country was a trail for the best players in there spots to show there stuff, and to my understanding 2009 has been and was up to they point dominated by Kimorely being the must consistant number 7 in NSW and in the NRL. Soward has been the most number 6 and still couldn't even make the 40 man squad or a camp just to be in that enviroment so he can get the feel and experience of that hype. I think Daley and co just shot themselves in the foot with there rediculous selection policy and I think give selection to people like Gus, Tommy Raudonikis & Des Hasler at least you know they will choose who should be there not who shouldn't. How did Mitchell Pearce make the 40 man NSW Squad?

Update:

Lobo - Do youhonestly believe they picked the form team for Origin 1? What was Wallace & Campese doing in there then, because they were playing rubbish about 4 weeks leading into Origin. If that was true then Mullen should've been in there or Soward because he was the most in form (and still is) no 6 going around. I agree with Belamy remaining as coach but i find it hard to believe that Kite was also the most inform Prop to come off the bench for NSW.

I think that the selector's philosophy needs the sack.

Are they breeding for the future?

    Are they trying out combinations?

    Are they going on form?

Who the hell knows? As a Queenslander, I thought the NSW Game 1 team was light on, and the best side on paper was the last one. Having said that, I couldn't believe they hung Wallace and Campese out to dry. Kimmorley SHOULD have been first man picked for the series, and to ignore form players is to invite failure.

The best individual over the 3 games was HAYNE by far, and without him, the first 2 games would have been complete blow outs...

It's time for New South Wales to make some serious changes to the selection process. We need to stop picking players that are has beens and players that are the ideal player in the Blue Jersey. We need players that are in good form and are consistantly playing well week in and week out. Look at the Queensland team who have been together for a few years and just gel together well.

Front Row Brent Kite should be given another crack along with Perry. Good hard runners although a Michael Weyman wouldnt go astray either.

Hooker Michael Ennis over Robbie Farrah, Michael is a very in your face type of player he runs hard has a good passing game and his defence is strong as well.

Second Row Ben Cregh impressed this should see him get another year of origin he should be joined by Anthony Watnaugh who's form was simply superb in Origin 3. Derserved many more opportunities and should do the business for us next year.

Lock - Paul Gallen, Mongrol hes hard and hits like a tank. A very physical player why wouldnt you have him in your team after all it is origin

Halfback - Brent Kimmorley, this guy is in great form and if he can carry it on we should see him in the 7 jersey. He can order the troops around the park well. Showed great passion and pride to ran down Inglis keep him on.

Stand off - Jaime Soward, performs week in and week out but hasnt had a shot yet. I think he should be the man to take the 6 jersey. He's quick has a great kicking game, reads play well and can hold his own in defence.

Centres - Jennings and Cooper, although i think Jennings is still a bit raw and im not sure if he's tough enough to be playing origin. Cooper been there before and he's playing great football at the moment should have been given an opportunity

Wings - Hayne and Monaghan, i choose Monaghan because of his game against the storm, he played brilliant so we need to find a way for him to express himself like that at origin level.

Fullback - Kurt Gidley did everything right always does. Solid as anybody else and gives the blues another playmaker option

    Interchange

Wing - A player that can slot in anywhere, hes strong and has a range of skills that make him an ideal candidate for the bench.

Weyman - Good back up prop to bring on. Runs hard, tackles well good work rate.

Waterhouse - Hard call between this guy and Stewart but he's a good worker and doesnt mind roughing it up with the big guys. Needs some work on offence but would be an assest to the blues

Hindmarsh - Been over looked to many times, needs a chacne again has been in outstanding form this season. Deserved a crack at the Blues team was robbed of an opportunity i think.

    1. Gidley

    2. Hayne

    3. Jennings

    4. Cooper

    5. Monaghan

    6. Soward

    7. Kimmorley

    13. Gallen (C)

    12. Cregh

    11. Watnaugh

    10. Kite

    9. Ennis

    8. Perry

    14. Wing

    15. Weyman

    16. Waterhouse

    17. Hindmarsh

  • They def need to change their selectors. Its funny how we won the 3rd game by puttin sum in form bulldog players in there plus havin the experience of kimmorely and barrett instead of a full rookie team hmmm?? These selectors need to bite the dust. The decisions they made in the first 2 games whilst yes sum were good were pretty much sh*thouse.

They kept sayin in form players were gettin picked?? Ah don't think so, if this were true then the NSW team would have the series not QLD. Bulldogs and Dragons are clearly the most in form teams in the comp and it was proven last nite with 2 bulldog players in the mix for the NSW team and look at the outcome??? and no i'm not just sayin this as a bulldogs supporter, its the truth!!!

    GO THE DOGGIES!!!

The should be sacked but they won't be. They will say "we won the third game, aren't we great?". I had said earlier that win or lose, the selectors have to go. If last nights game was the decider, could you imagine what the Queenslanders would have done to Gidley? He hardly got touched all night. To say that they want a youth policy? Barrett, Kimmorely and Patten (if needed), real youth stuff there. And this garbage of picking a 40 man squad and the above three were not included. Pity those other players and their hopes.

    1. B Stewart

    2. B Morris

    3. Jennings

    4. J Morris

    5. Hayne

    7. Kimmorly (C)

    8. Poore

    9. Ennis

    10. Weyman

    11. Hindmarsh

    12. Creagh

    14. Watmough

    15. G Stewart

    16. Wing/Gidley

    17. Lewis/Learoyd-Lahrs

No. They tried to pick an Origin team based on form for the first game, lost the game, shit themselves, then did the right thing and put in some experienced players like Barret and Kimmorley for the last two games.

I still would like to see Phil 'No No No No No' Gould have some sort of role, but not as coach as Bellamy is a fine coach with a difficult roster to work with.

And also remember, most of the QLD side is in the Australian run on side. It's a steep mountain to climb when you are faced with that as your opposition

i hope that NSW change their selectors , they have so many great players to choose from , they just have to show faith in these young players , just look at the Queensland Team afew years back they were a young squad , well not counting Price and petero , but the younger guys like inglis , folau , thurston , they were new to this , and they stuck with these guys , and look at them now , they have won 4 series in a row , and 5 is looking good , after watching the game last nite , with the new players Queensland brought in for game 3 , i think that they can make it 5 in a row , but never count NSW out , as the game last nite shows , they just need people in their management , who breathe , eat , sleep Origin , coz the players are already the best from their States , they just need to be insipred to play out of their skins for the States , thats something that Queensland has done, they dont have the form players , or the most skilled players in their squad compared to NSw , but they will always play for their State and team mates, so yeah i think that a change of selectors , would be good for NSW , just looking forward to Next year ...GO Queensland

Yep the selectors need to go for me they are to inconsistent and say one thing and back-track and though Campese was'nt up to it they didn't give him a fair go one and out.

They need to stick with a core group especially in the key postions of 1,6,7 and 9 and stop all the chopping and changing and live with there choices. How can NSW develop combinations if they keep chopping and changing with there selections.

totally agree, do not know how soward didnt get a look in, best 6 in the whole comp at the moment, and they wonder why there players go to rugby

  • 1 decade ago

Agreed lentsa. Kimmorley singlehandedly turned around the Blues. He made Daley eat his words.

Daley should do the honourable thing and fall on his sword.
