Dear Ivan Cleary.............................From Warriors Faithful?

Dear Mr Cleary,

Now that we have pretty much stuffed up any hope of making the finals can you please get rid of Jessie Royal, Jacob Lillymen, Denan Kemp & Joel Moon and while you are at it can you please recruit Michael Wit back from Union, Roveli back for the Cowboys and Fien back from the Dragons because it seems like you have killed a great halves combination (going off last years performances) and we have replaced it with a monopoly of players. I have the outmost respect for Stacey but it may be time to try and blood young Shawn Johnson from the Toyota cup and also Likiliki the strong running Centre. You may shake your head in disagreement Mr Cleary but your plan so far is none better so blooding in younger blokes isn't going to make matters any worse. I wish you all the best for 2010 and hope that you can take a leaf from the Bulldogs and recruit players who are going to bring something into the team that is going to benefit the team. We brough in Joel Moon because he didn't want to play Centre for the Bronco's and what happened, we get rid of Witt and now Moon is back to the Centres because he was no good at no 6. Royal is worse than Tuimavave so I don't know if we got a cheap deal there or what, Lillyman use to be good and still shows glimpses but so does an old dog in a race against a turtle and Kemp, well just look at his stats. I will always back the Warriors (even though the heart gets a kicking every week) but sooner or later someone needs to have a brain snap in the admin offices and coaching staff and realise that this is a real competition.

A Warriors Faithful!!

Update:

HBW - Do you realise we are talking about League, when I said Kemp I was refering to him being crap, Obviously, you can read properly because you somehow sound like I suggested he was good, you are off your high horses. JOhnsons going to be a Warrior next year so why not blood him this year, who doyou think will replace Stacey? Or did you mind not comprehend beyond this year. Jessie Royal and Joel Moon are both over rated. I like Moon as he can play the game, but so can alot of other players, its all abou people who can jell into a team not how great they are individually. Tate will be back but Moon still isnt a number 6, anyone with a Rugby League background would know this (but obviously you dont). One thing I dont like is a team running with Utilities as specialist players. Best players in the game are the best at there postions not Utilities, so you can keep Moon, Royal, Kemp & Lillyman, actually I pay for there tickets back to Australia if you want. PS Learn your league!

Update 2:

Kriston - Is it wrong for a fan who pays for all NZ Warriors games in NSW and travelling distances I do to have expectations of my team? You must remember that all experts in the game (even the team) had high expectations of being a team to make top 4 and even give the GF another run. I aint bagging the Warriors and will alway back them, what I am pointing out is that they really need to consider there recruitment process because all of the bignames brought in for the 09 season havent done anything. Locke from Toyota Cup has had more impact then Kemp, Lewis Brown has had more impact than Royal, Joel Moon hasn't jelled at all in any position that he has played and Lillyman was good but I would've thought that Tai'i would've been better to develope rather than bringing over a player past his best in Lillyman. Believe, NSW all commentators can't understand why the Warriors are playing worse than last year and all i can say is the changes we have made are worse.

Update 3:

Red - I understand what you are saying but I would never say the Warriors are the laughing stock, I think we are probably the most inconsistant though and thats where things need to change.

Mate, this letter should be accompanied by a petition list of signatures from like-minded folks as you! I don't think you will have a problem finding Warriors supporters asking the same questions of Mr. Cleary. Come to think of it, maybe a letter to the Warriors board will also be needed because ultimately that is where the decision-making power lies.

Ok Warriors faithful, so this year has been unflattering and I agree some major changes are needed in our team. But whole sale cuts and changes are never the answer. With a couple of smart recruits and Tate back the warriors could and should improve immensely. Shaun Johnson needs to figure next year and a ball playing hard running second rower needs to be recruited. Even a gap running power play back such as Lote Tuquri along with Tate Ropati etc would set this team on fire. Its amazing how everyone else in the team picks up there game when they are winning and equally amazing how narrow minded negative fans suddenly jump back on the band wagon. Just look at St George this year. So show a bit more faith and remember no team wins everything all the time.

Source(s): Fair comments. I agree Royal has to go. I think Kemp could be a handful on a decent attacking back line given space as was proved when he played for Brisbane. Joel Moon hasn't been outstanding this year but has had big wraps from some knowledgable people (Wayne Bennett for one) so the potential is there. All I am saying is this team with the smart recruiting of a couple of new players could be coached into a good outfit. Is Cleary the man to do the job, I am not so sure. I also expected alot more from them this year and am sure that a little tweaking and a lot more emphasise on attack they could turn things around next year. On that note I do notice for the last few years I have been saying 'next year'. And also all credit for you for supporting them in Oz.

Jacob Lillyman was a decent player for the Cowboys, now he is sh!t for the Warriors. Kemp was awesome for the Broncos last yr but is now crap for the Warriors. Not a good year and I think that the loss of Grant Rovelli and Michael Witt has hurt you guys.

i didnt bother reading your entire letter. mainly because i go for the panthers. but even if cleary seen your letter do you think he would listen??? i dont think he would.

i do agree that maybe its time for stacey jones to hang up the boots considering the game he played on sunday.

and blooding young players should be a priority for all clubs but that in itself isnt going to provide a winning formulae.

cleary was a damn good player but not a very good coach.

Yes len our team is truly farked this year but their season hasn't been all bad... You want a solid team that's going to process to the goods. bring back Villasante, Witt, Awen, Wiki, Toopi, Faa feli, Tookey, Lauatiti,PJ Marsh, . leave Stace, Hohaia, Price, Tate, Vatuvei, Locke and Hendo... get rid of the rest.... But in saying that they need guidance and a crackers under their bums to wake them up and smell the yucky reality! Year in year out we're the laughing stock of the comp, and I'm over that. our boys need the spirit of the game again not to go out there week in week out just to play another game just to lose. We need the spirit to go out there and kick some a.s.s week in week out. Hearty hearty Warriors supporters says that Ivan Clearly is not the only problem with our team this year the problem is lacking spirit and confidence!!!

    Hearty Hearty all day everyday!

EDIT: Samwitch: Clown we have been the laughing stock for a while thank you very much! Darren Lockyer the prick wanted us kicked out of the comp because we had lost 6 consecutive games and found that our boys were not worthy! Which in turn saw us get as far as the top four... Don't you think you freak that I don't know my game mama cracker because i do thanks!! Our team is great on paper simple and plain get us out on the paddock and we're haven't been that great! Win or lose I'm hearty hearty! Don't you rock up on me and call me a moron got it opinions count up on here not uglies!!!!! Get over your shet buddy and enough with the insults! And yes there is proof listen to half the shet that comes out the commentators mouths and likes of Daley.. Mate listen to the bullshit, even our own media back home run our boys down... hearty hearty supporters we are but our team need to really wake up to themselves! Last year was a great year, but this year is new and we're playing like we're beginners!!

And by the way if you remember back when we were contenders for the minors it was becasue the Bulldogs lost all their points due to the salary cap! Some was on form but the rest was politics! 03-04

EDIT: Yeah Len Sorry wrong choice of words inconsistent is more appropriate but also laughed at!

    WOW! that was utterly ridiculous.

Lets look at Kemps stats. It look him over half the season to get a try. Hmmmm lets see. A wingers job is to..... Oh yeah score tries. Kemp has 1 try. Locke, on debut, scored two tries. Followed up with another in the following game. Yes so lets bring on someone who is less effective. Great idea. Kemp is fast and may have more agility. But Locke runs better lines and can break out of tackles and also tackle himself. He did the tackle down the side line today which lead to a try but i dont blame him when with the fend he received. The other guy clearly had the size advantage. Also his effort to attempt to catch Soward on his break away was solid. He had to run another 20m to catch up and ended up giving up. The kid has burn.

Kemp has 10 more points as he has played 3 more games this season. But atleast Locke is doing his job... Scoring tries. So go look at the stats. Maybe you could go show your friends them tomorrow too, after you have finished finger painting and playing on the playground. He did well for the Broncos, average for the Warriors. Hes playing outside Ropati and Mannering (usually). Two highly offensive players. When the that winger gets the ball he needs to do his best with his, as they rarely get the ball. Not to mention he has to compete with Vatuvei for for which wing the should favour.

Bringing in Shaun Johnson now would be amateur. He has pace, he can step and he has a good boot on him for someone brought up playing touch. But look at the situations that Jones got put in today. He was getting smashed by basically the whole Dragons forward pack. He isn't use to getting hit so much. He can probably step round most backs but in first grade, the forwards have plenty of pace. He will get injured and become struggle eg Benji Marshall. He has had re-occuring injury problems. Both coming from touch backgrounds. He needs build up a few more games before he makes his debut.

Tuimavave had a serious neck injury so the Warriors brought in Royal to cover while he was out. Hes too much of a liability to have in a team with a neck injury. They have plenty of props in the Warriors side that can side play Under 20s and be called on when needed. . Wow your lack of knowledge of the Warriors shocks me for being a 'faithful'. When did you get the faith? When they started winning again? Soooo that is why Royal is signed to the team. Would you rather have the likes of Ah Mau, Retzlaff and Ta'ai on the field over Royal? You would be crazy to say yes. Finding a replacement for Royal may be a issue but not a major concern.

Lillymen is getting on and abit average but hes our defense pitbull. Brown has stepped lately but the intelligence/common sense is lacking in that one. Lillymen has pressure to perform. He isn't the greatest player around but at least he is reasonably solid when it comes to his job. Mannering attacks, Luck work horse and Lillymen is our pitbull. So meh, he does reasonably well. You could have to at least have him on the bench to cover as the rest of our replacement second rowers are very in-consistent eg the big hitting Matulino, Brown

Moon! are you kidding me? He can play a utility role in the team. If needed he can play both well. What are you complaining about? He will go back to playing 6 after Tate comes back. You do remember that we do have one of the best centres Brent Tate in the Warriors. But hes out for the season, just thought i'd let you know. So yeah lets not only screw up Shaun Johnson's game and also screw over the Under 20s who need him just so he can have some experience. If you are a Warriors fan you would know that the Toyota Cup side is 7th. They lose games. They go down. Good work buddy. You must be a seasoned Warriors supporter. Oh yeah and lets bring up Likiliki. We need another average centre to go with Ah Van and Ropati (in his current form). Ropati needs to play out of his slump and giving time to a young blood at the moment is not going to improve Ropati's performance.

Roveli did do very well for us but begun to fade. Not a huge loss now we have Jones back. Jones is amazing as he knows the Warriors/Cleary's style of play. Very limited with only the wrap commonly used but hes a legend at Mt Smart.

Witt was great. Im not arguing with you over bringing him back. But if you brought him back, he would kick the goals. Leaving no place for Kemp in the slightest. So maybe forming a good argument for someone would be good before you choose to voice it and get shut down completely.

So you should send your letter to Ivan Cleary. He will most likely laugh and i hope it gets published in some sort of literature, hopefully he writes an autobiography and includes it. Im sure he takes notice of every letter he receives from ignorant fans like yourself. You may even make the news for being the dumbest, most uneducated rugby league fan out there. Guiness may make a world record for you, I wouldn't be surprised.

    P.S if you
