a magnet if its the tip, if you broke a piece of the porcelain your in trouble. i have also wrapped duct tape so the sticky side was out on a piece of rubber hose and fished out pieces as well. A decent shop will have a small imaging tool that they can stick inside the hole and look to see if they can see anything in there as well.

Do not do what the other guy said about cranking the engine till it flies out. You can score the cylinder walls, possibly bend a valve and then you will have major work, you would be wishing you pulled the head at that point.

Your probably looking at pulling the head more than likely

If the tip end broke away from the body and the bottom end of the center electrode stayed in with the tip ,you have materials that can do a lot of piston damage if they come loose and fall inward for any reason.

On the other hand if the center electrode came out and all you have in there is the threaded tip with the ground barb ,you can use an easy out FOR PIPE THREAD to get it backed out [ EASY OUTS FOR BOLTS WONT WORK FOR SPARK PLUGS too long and can hit top of piston past the chamber ] use a really good lube to break the broken part loose like [Break away,PB Blaster,Aerocroll ] these work really well to free up stuck parts .

magnet will not get it, i think it was lead tipped so magnets wont do the job, lead is heavier so vacume wont suck it up, about the only way to do it without pulling the head is to crank the engine over till it flies out, if that dont work DO NOT run the vehicle like it is cause the lead will weld to the cylinderwalls, and screw everything up.
