Can you change a normal pair of 8-stud rugby boots to 6-stud?

Can you change a normal pair of 8-stud rugby boots to 6-stud by strategically removing two of the studs?

Am playing rugby, and grabbed the first pair of boots I found for a decent price (Mizuno, 60 euros). Hadn't played before, so wasn't sure if I were to be a forward or a back (still not entirely sure), but as things stand am trying out for the back line. I understand 6-studs are quicker.... can I convert those boots to 6, or would I need a new pair? Cheers!

Good answers so far. Just be careful as some boots are designed to spread the load over the 8 points where the studs connect, so you may not get the correct support if you remove 2. Check with the manufacturer or a good sports shoe store.

I'm a forward and have that pair of boots, and im pretty sure you can take two studs out so that there is not as much contact to the ground. So yes this will enable you to run quicker. Make sure you take the second set of two studs from the top of the boot.

depends where you play! forwards should be going for the 8 stud kooga's bcoz they need the static grip but backs shouldn't really consider rugby boots as they are far to heavy and imobile, i would just get a pair of 6 stud footie boots!

Nope no new pair needed, just get a stud remover tool, which normally comes witht the purchase of new boots, and remove two studs.
