meloxicam, 5 - 15 MG tabs within a 12 hour period, combined with alcohol (moderate). Oxycontin screws me up. ?

Seems to work, but the amount I have to take to get pain Relief is beyond what is recommended. Oxycontin worked well, but I'm worried about the addiction to it. I've gone through 200 of them .

I no longer use them

    What exactly is your question?

Did you take five 15 mg Mobic (meloxicam) tablets at one time? That is a very dangerous use of the medication. 15 mg is the maximum dose per day and Mobic should only be used for a short time if possible.

Why were you taking OxyContin (oxycodone controlled-release)? How long did 200 tablets last? And what was their dose? Normally people take 60 OxyContin a month unless they have pain severe enough to require more than 160 mg/day. And alcohol use is typically a bad idea when using high doses of OxyContin and/or Mobic. It is good you are no longer using the OxyContin.

It sounds like you were taking extreme doses which is what could have "screwed you up" as you put it.

And if you taking any types of medication for pain it i very important to tell your doctor so he can reevaluate the medications and doses you take.

exceeding 15mg of meloxicam daily will not increase its effectiveness. all you are doing is increasing

your chances of having an adverse reaction such as gastritis or perforated ulcer. combining meloxicam

with alcohol causes more damage to your stomach lining. it's a prescription for disaster. you

should not exceed meloxicam 15mg daily. talk to your doctor.
