When an NBA player is assigned to the D-league, can any team sign them?

Can Hasheem technically go to somewhere like OKC, or is he stuck with the Grizz

No. He still has a Memphis contact. He's playing in the D-League but hes getting NBA money not that D-league 50 grand maximum. Players in the D-league can sign anywhere but if you still got an NBA contact you can't . Hasheem was sent to the D-league because Memphis is trying to make a playoff run these last games and dont want to leave him on the bench. So better off sending him to the D-league to work on his game in the process. He will be back at start of next season or ride the bench if they make the playoffs.

As an NBA player under contract, he acn not be signed by another team. He will still recieve his NBA salary as well as his NBA per Diem - $105 pre day and his own hotel room while traveling. Regular D-Leaguers share rooms on the road, get $30 per day per Diem and make a max of $25,000 - not $50,000 like the above guy said.
