In addition to Photo Booth and iMovie, QuickTime Player can make video recordings from your iSight camera as well. When you have QuickTime Player open, go to the File menu up top, then select "New Movie Recording". A new window will appear which looks like a movie player, but it shows the video feed from your camera and the only controls are a volume slider and a red record button. When you click the button, it'll start recording to a new movie file on your desktop (the location can be changed in the Preferences window, though). When you click the Stop button, it immediately becomes a standard movie player so you can play back what you just recorded. Hope that helps!
Source(s): P.S. This is for QuickTime 7, which comes with OS X 10.5 Leopard. I haven't used QuickTime X in Snow Leopard, so I don't know if you basically do the same thing, but it shouldn't be too different. - 5 years ago
Webcam Tracker Live allows to capture an object by any video device (webcams, TV-tuners, video cards with a video input, etc.) and to pass data in the dataflow mode via the Internet or a local net. There's plenty of webcam software which, as the developers say, can transfer stream video. In fact, it's mere high speed transferring of jpeg img, and, of course, no sound at all. Webcam Tracker Live is one of the few programs which allows to transfer real stream video and sound in real time. Webcam Tracker Live also has an option which allows to connect to any Windows Media Server, and, as it is itself a server of this kind, you can easily and quickly organize a conference or a video-chat.

Oh, do it in iMovie.
It's really easy.
