Equal Opportunity???

How is equal opportunity equal when you pull applications based on race and sex as opposed to qualifications? Sounds pretty racist to me...

equal opportunity means you DON'T use race or sex as criteria..........

using employment criteria that is beyond a persons control is what Title VII makes illegal.

so you are correct this practice is racist.............

what do you mean by "pulling" applications,

are you asking about affirmative action?

if so, it has been found to be illegal except in limited circumstances...

An equal opportunity employer (EOE) is an organization that does the following things:

    1. They collect data about the people who apply to their organization/company and the people who are hired. They keep this data separate from the applications and it is optional. They only use it for research into what kind of applicants they are attracting and who is getting hired so that they can see if there are systemically racist/sexist practices that they need to change. For example, if a company realized that only women were applying for a job, they might look around at their company website and realize that all the photos on the website are of female employees and decide to make their website more welcoming to male applicants.

    2. An EOE also does not allow race, gender, sexual orientation, etc enter into their decision making process.

You may be confused between EOE and affirmative action. Affirmative action is when preference is given to candidates who have been historically marginalized. EOE is when no person can be excluded based on any one of a number of personal/biological factors (such as race, gender, sexual orientation, etc).

Works in a very PC way but oh boy when you get on to the workfloor!

    Happy hunting!

That is when management calls the shots.

Don't make a manager do an exec job: it will most likely blow up in your face and make the whole team come crashing down.

They have not got the qualifications.

I would otherwise say: put the ones with multiple management degrees on the bin pile and choose from the rest. I guarantee you that it will save you money as well.
