What are driveshafts made of? Rear wheel drive (prop shaft)?

I need to know what a RWD driveshaft is made of and why out of that material?,

the manfacture process (does not have to be in detail)

and what or were it is going in the future?

    Most are steel.

    The trend now is aluminum, for lighter weight.

    Competition types can be carbon fiber.

    Steel, alu. and carbon fiber if you can afford it. most are steel but some are alu. but you can buy carbon fiber ones.

    Steel. Its cheap and durable.
