How does a "practicing homosexual Christian" justify their lifestyle in the face of 1Cor. 6?

Certainly Heavenly Father loves every one of His children (including those who commit what He has defined as "sin"). The issue for me isn't whether or not God loves those who practice homosexuality. Of course He does. (John 3:16-17)

I want to know how you justify yourself in the face of a statement such as

"Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind...shall inherit the kingdom of God." (1Corinthians 6:9-10)

***[The following is not part of the question but a response to a common response to such questions.]

Homosexuality in any form is a sin as much as having sexual intercourse outside of marriage is.

Never forget the love of the Lord in all of this, however:

"The law is not made for a righteous man, but for...the disobedient...for them that defile themselves with mankind." (1Timothy 1:9-10)

He loves you regardless of what physical or emotional difficulty you have. Those difficulties, feelings, or chemicals do not justify sin, however. As with all men and women (myself included), the call is to repent and be baptized and to seek holiness. (see Acts 2:38)

"And again I would exhort you that ye would come unto Christ, and lay hold upon every good gift, and touch not the evil gift, nor the unclean thing." (Moroni 10:30)

Nothing is going to convince you narrow-view literalists that homosexuality is okay. You are stuck repeating mistranslations that you think are to be taken word for word as the infallible word of god, regardless of the fact that they are actually the end result of centuries of church politics and misinterpretation piled upon mistranslation. Jesus condemned the pious and hung around with the outcasts of society. He never said a word about same-sex relationships, but condemned those that wear their religion on their sleeves and pray on streetcorners.

I'll take my chances with the God of my understanding vs. the one you purport to know.

  • In the spirit of learning, I will say you need to learn about the bible, history and common sense.

    Here are some pointers.

    To understand you must:

    1) Know the languages and how it is used Start about 5000bc . For instance Jesus spoke in Aramaic. Aramaic Arabic and Hebrew share the same language root Phoenician. Aramaic has Idioms, and metaphors, that has a meaning other than the words used.

    2) Know the history of what is going on at the time these were written.

    3) Understand the ones that wrote what you read. For instance Paul was Pharisee. Find out what that means and how it folds into what he says.

    4) Most of all use the original scriptures. You will be told that there are none, however there are. The Greek is not the original but translation.

    5) Learn religious history from many sources so you have a perspective.

    6) Keep focused on what God and Jesus Said not what others evaluated what they said.

#1 - the actual translation of men lie with men was men raped men. the men in reference were hetrosexual men follow pagan rights and having homosexual acts with other hetrosexual men.

#4 1 cor 6:9. Or did you not know that [workers] of abomination will not

inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be at a loss. Neither adulterers, nor

idol makers, nor fornicators, nor perverts, nor child molesters,[Lit.

Ar. expression: "Those who have intercourse with young boys.]

#2 is imporant to understand #1

Now Fornication is rooted in Latin meaning Arch is was like the red

    light district for prostitutes.

#5From a historical point of view Paul was preaching to the pagans

(nations, gentiles) The were following Idols and Sex was performed any

    way with anyone.

For Romans it was not thought wrong to have sex with anyone not a roman

citizen. This included Slaves, and male, heterosexual, prisoners. It was

the custom to have anal sex with male, heterosexual, prisoners, hence

    the perverts.

This does not address the sexual attraction to same sex. Just homo

sexual acts by heterosexual (undiscerning) to Heterosexual Males.

    Summary:

Regardless of what is interpreted by people about current homosexual

activity, I, as a homosexual that is attracted to other men, can tell

you that we just know we are.

I have discussed this with may Gays some that don't know anything about

    religion or Phycology.

They also say the same as I, they just know they are attracted to same

sex and never consider the opposite sex.

Also for all the arguments about upbringing, environment and such, you

can find more heterosexual that have experience the same events.

Finally I have had my connection with God since I was six.

I lost it about 10 and got it back about 35.

I have unshakable believe that God Loves me and provides me Strength to

face the situation that life gives me.

with that here is how I view God and I

The Divine gave us a soul

The Divine communicates to us through the soul.

The Divine provided, through the soul, love and strength continuously.

The Divine had given us the living word that resides in us.

    Soul is love

    Soul is strength

    Soul is pure

    Soul is eternal.

The Love fills us and keeps us from wanting

The Strength allows us to over come our human desires and face the

    situation life gives us.

    Through experience I know this.

There are three passages in the New Testament that support gay Christians, and I cite them frequently: Acts 10, Matthew 15, and Mark 2:23-28. They teach that Christianity is not based on purity standards, and that even divinely ordained institutions can be altered for human need.

    There is NO SUCH THING!

A tolerant Christian is lower than the scum of the Earth!

How about this: I'll call myself gay and go out and rally against both prop 8 being overturned and against the homosexual lifestyle altogether...that would make me a gay man that simply tolerates the Christian view right? I claim to be gay, after all.

It simply would make me a liar or a man that hasn't even considered the gay lifestyle, let along truly believe in it. Otherwise, I wouldn't take action that went against what I claim to be. This is the case for those Christians you refer to here!

Chris, I thank God that you have delivered his Word from both Judeo scripture and Christian scripture. It is obvious that you love and are God inspired.

Oberon, I suggest that you avoid shell fish, your body may be less defiled. If you don't eat all that cow meat you might avoid mad cow and heart disease. All that fat seems to be showing from the pigs you eat. But, with AIDS effecting 70% of gays and a virus even worse on its way, the text of Leviticus should remain on your lips.

Citizen, while you were busy quoting all 39 verses of Matthew 15 and 48 verses of Acts 10, you should have scrolled over to Matthews 19:4-6 and read Jesus saying that God made them male and female; and said For this cause shall a MAN leave his father and mother and shall cleave to his WIFE.

So, did Jesus forget about gays, or was He very clear when he said MAN and WOMAN shall marry and become one flesh.

If gays wish to be Atheist the go ahead, but the burning fire you don't believe in will still scorch the sin from your soul. However, if you choose to be Atheist, I suggest you find a gay gene first. Until then, it seems that the salvation that Jesus offers is a great thing to accept and a small effort to make.

I'm a born sinner that is what justifies it. I'm happy, gay, and going to heaven. Me and God will discuss this, not you and Homosexuals on the subject. Spread the word, not judgment.

    *sigh*

so, you eat shrimp? ever touched a football? did you sell your daughter into slavery yet?

tell where exactly did God come down from Heaven and deliver a direct message in his voice to the masses about gay people?

tell where exactly did Jesus EVER touch on this issue?!?

Seems to me you listen to men, and not to your own God. How shameful.

i don't see what any of that has to do with being gay or gay marriage.
