On behalf of every thinking American citizen, we want to take this opportunity to encourage you to give pause and reflect on the tremendous sacrifice represented by the wealth and talent that our country diverts to its military from human need. Hundreds of thousands of American men and women have served in the nation's military service for a hypertrophied militarized economy under the questionable assumption that it maintains the peace and freedoms we enjoy daily. Please take time to say to a vet, “I’m sorry you had to risk your life and well-being for unnecessary wars and occupations. I’m so glad to see you home, and we pledge to do our best to make it up to you.”

Try saying that to anyone actively serving, or who has served. Your insult dressed to look like a compliment is still an insult, and people serving the military are not as stupid as you smugly think them to be. It's perfectly fine to not support the mission that people in the armed forces have to fight; but don't act as though your political leanings come across as a compliment. Insulting the work the armed forces does insults the armed forces, and talking down to them in a condescending, mock-compliment insults them more.

If you support the troops, support them. Keep your political opinions out of it. If the troops had the luxury of being as politically arrogant as you are, the military would fall apart and there would be no cohesion capable of carrying out the missions that protect the freedoms you enjoy.
