This is a very common thing for horses that are young or otherwise inexperiened at galloping out in he open to do. Most horses are trained in an arena which means in circles they don't learn how to go straight. He goes straight at a walk and trot because these are slower paces. He goes straight when following another horse because he is following.

Work on teaching him to stay straight on a loose rein and a walk and trot first, then at th extende trot. Keep him on a loose rein, let him make the mistake of drifting then make a big correction to set him back in a straight line. Hold him accountable to staying straight between the reins. Then do the same at a collected lope. Slowly increase your speed over a number of sessions as he can handle it at the previous speed. Over time he will get comfortable with moving out straight.

My gelding does this.. First of all stroll the Long part (decide on an item or rail of the world and stare at it) of the world then halt (strait) do flip at the haunches so your dealing with the following course after which repeat the step then as soon as you'll be able to do it at a stroll move to a trot however when you get to the top of the world stroll and switch then simply step by step stroll the complete factor then trot it then canter it ( i dont realize gaited horses good in any respect)
