A question about animals and vegetarians?

How many animals approximately would a meat-eater kill in their lifetime? (Including shoes, bags etc.)

How about the same for a vegetarian? (Including shoes, bags etc.)

I'm doing an essay on animal rights and need it for one of my pages, thanks(:

Update:

I know all this, I'm a vegetarian...

I've looked at the facts i just wondered like how much more animals meat-eaters would kill in a lifetime than vegetarians? (e.g 25% more or 50% more...)

Update 2:

Also I know killing for shoes and bags is wrong, never said it was right, but it does happen and I need it for my essay..

Isn't it supposed to be about 100 animals per year for a meat eater? (I think I read that on Yahoo Answers, so it must be true LOL). If that's an average, then you'd have to multiply by the number of years that a meat eater lives for, say 75. That's 7,500 animals.

I don't know how many vegetarians buy leather goods (none personally) and I don't know how many use cosmetics tested on animals, but since the skin of a cow would make more than one pair of shoes, then for every one cow death, vegetarian usage would probably make up less than, say, 5% of the animals useable parts. Possibly bump it up another 5% to take into account veal production as I think most vegetarians are ovo-lacto. So that would be 10%

But you've got to remember that it's all an educated guess on my part as I've not heard of any studies into this. Hopefully, neither will your teacher.

Next time, take something easy like.....brain surgery, or nuclear physics :-)

Well i've heard that a meat eater is responsible for the deaths of 4,000 animals (for food) in their lifetime. If they wear animal skin or use animal tested products that number would be much higher.

A vegetarian would be responsible for far less deaths.

I dunno but if you think about it, hypothetically, if everybody in the world turned vegetarian there would be no use for farm animals so a lot of breeds would turn extinct.

And if everybody turned vegetarian at the same time there would be a massive slaughter of unwanted animals as farmers would not be able to afford to keep them.

I know thats not an answer to your question but it might be a point you'd like to mention in your essay.
