Is there an equivalent french term for "man-up"?

and what about the opposite, "simmer down"? Just curious.

    I'd say...''sois un homme'' (be a man), I can't really think of a good verb for it at the moment.

    To simmer down = se détendre/se calmer...

    There is no word for man in French. Every French sentence translates to "I am a gay French ******."
