Am I the only one that has a problem with the lousy spelling and grammar here?

It seems to me that about half of the questions posted are almost impossible to read due to the "texting" version of abbreviating everything. Am I just getting old and being like my parents were when they complained about the way I dressed, acted, talked, etc. or what? Does anyone have a suggestion as how to decipher this garbage in order to give a reasonable answer?

Honestly, I tend to ignore the people that type in all caps, or capitalize every single word, or have replaced their s key with another z, etc. I wish I could put into words why what they're doing is incorrect and improper, but if I managed, they'd just say it's their "style" or something. As a 15 year old, I'm ashamed to be part of the generation that appears to be singlehandedly destroying the English language and the reputation of English-speaking peoples everywhere.

When I do bother to answer one of those people, I often give them a very verbose answer, as to say "Hey, you CAN have a vocabulary that's larger than that of an eight-year-old." They seem to think that big words are useless, when in fact I think it's a beautiful thing that language has a way to express things in such great detail. But hey, who needs that when they have Jersey Shore. *sigh*

I too am wondering what is going on with all the bad grammar and spelling, and the abbreviated bad language.

The people who are doing this don't even use the spell checker, they obviously don't know what it means.

Another thing is the crude and sick questions some people ask.

It's getting to the stage when I see the questions and answers written in such a terrible way I don't want to look at this site anymore. Now though having seen this question,it gives me the knowledge that all is not lost.

NO, you are not getting old it's great to know there are still a few out there who care about the way the English language is written.

No, you're not the only one who has a problem with it. And I don't have a suggestion as to how to decipher the 'garbage'. My fear is that I would go to all that effort to decipher it and write an long answer only to have the be unable to decipher MY proper spelling and grammar. If they can't take the time to write a question I can understand, I don't have the time to figure it out.

However, I work hard at trying to understand when it is obvious that someone to whom English is not a first language is trying their darnedest to write the best English they can. I feel that THEY are worthy of my attention.

Do not worry your good self over that which you cannot understand or give affect to change perchance. For it is ordained - " They that understandeth not had no need to knowith in the first place". There you go, get you Grammatical and Spelling teeth into that lot.

Actually I find it a delight, sort of like a cryptic crossword, trying to decypher my Grandkids Text's and FaceBook meanderings. Keeps the brain cells ticking ova me lovely. Cheerio old thing. doc

As Mr. Spock said in a movie once, "I will make the best guess that I can".

The thing that really eludes me is that they simply ignore the little box on the right side of the answer that has a pencil inside of it that spells out the sentence "Open Spell Checker"

My answer is to skip or report such questions. I think it is rude to give any kind of "attitude" when asking for help. I'm not going to spend my time deciphering questions. It is hard enough to come up with answers.

No you're not alone.Do you realise just how many Americans spell 'answer' as 'awnser'? Surely that is not a difficult word to spell?

No, you are not.My suggestion is to take advantage of the spell checker and use it.
