Lipids include fats, oils, other triglycerides, and steroids. They all mix very poorly with water if at all. Fatty acids combine to make triglycerides which include fats and oils. There are two types of fatty acids, saturated and unsaturated. Saturated have no double bonds in the carbon-hydrogen chain, making it "saturated" with hydrogen molecules. Unsaturated has a varying amount of double bonds. Saturated fatty acids form fats (butter) and unsaturated fatty acids form oils (olive oils, cooking oils, etc.). Triglycerides are simply made of a glycerol molecule and three other molecules. This could be fatty acids or fatty acids with a phosphate group in the case of phospholipids.

    Lipids

    -Triglyceridies

    -Fatty Acids (example: fat)
