My 2005 Toyota CD player slides into my 1996 Camry CD dash slot, but stops short!?

My new CD player is from another car--a 2005 Camry. I'd like very much to install it into my 1996 Camry, but the new one is bigger than the old one, which was installed with a dash kit. Since I don't need the dash kit for this bigger one, when I slide it into the dash it stops short, because the new radio has a lip!

This new one is HUGE, and slides in all the way, except for the very front (at the faceplate), which won't go in. What am I doing wrong?

Update:

The old cassette player was tiny, and used dash trim on the sides to access and remove. The new CD player fits right up until the faceplate, which juts out. Do I need to do something fancy, or what to get the new CD player to fit?

U need to take the housing off the stock radio and iso load it with the screws on the side just like the old one.No kits are used in older toyotas only stock brackets.
