It depends.
If you've been married for less than 2 years at the time your wife got her Green Card, then her Green Card is conditional and you two will have to go through the Removal of Conditions process before the 2-year Green Card expires. The form for this is I-751 and the cost is $580.
If you've been married for 2 years or more by the time your wife got her Green Card then she got an unrestricted, 10-year card.
If you guy stay together and live together in blissful harmony under one roof, then she can become a US citizen as early as 3 years after becoming a resident. Look at the front of her Green Card where it reads: RESIDENT SINCE: xx/xxx./201x. That's the magic date that counts!
Up to 90 days before that magic date your wife can apply for naturalization via form N-400. The cost is $640. She'll need to have a basic working knowledge of English, pass a super easy English test and a 100-question civic test of which she will get only 10 questions max.

If you want to become a citizen based on your own status you can do so through the naturalization process. You will have to submit the US citizenship application. To eligible for naturalization you must be 18 years old and should have been a permanent resident for more than 5 years. You also need to fulfill all other qualification requirements like continuous residence, physical presence, state stay and good moral character.
If you are the spouse of a US citizen and have been living with your citizen spouse for 3 years and also have had your green card for those 3 years, then you can go ahead and apply for citizenship through naturalization process after those 3 years.

she has to:
(1) have been admitted to lawful permanent residence for five years (three years if Green Card obtained through marriage to U.S. citizen);
(2) be 18 years old or older;
(3) maintain continuous residence for five years (three years if Green Card obtained through marriage to U.S. citizen);
(4) be physically present in the U.S. for at least half of the 5 years (or half of the 3 years if you obtained a Green Card through a U.S. citizen spouse);
(5) be a person of good moral character for the 5 years (or 3 years if the alien obtained a Green Card through a U.S. citizen spouse);
(6)demonstrate an elementary level of English (reading, writing, understanding); and,
(7) must have knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of history and government of the U.S.
Source(s): if she meets these requirements she should study for the test, go to the library and get books on the citizenship test, they should also have info on where the test can be taken locally. good luck!
