If I buy a U.S version mobile phone to use in New Zealand will it still work fine?

I want to buy a phone from amazon.com but live in NZ.

Its a U.S version of the phone and comes with a warranty.

Will the warranty work from here and the phone shouldn't be too different should it?

Thanks :)

Your question depends on if your phone runs on GSA or CDMA signal.

CDMA is the most common worldwide.

Also, some US version phones have SIM cards that will not work outside of the US and/or cannot be switched for a SIM card from another country. Verizon phones are well known for this.

But your answer could be YES, just make sure... before you buy a US version phone, that the SIM card switch to a NZ SIM card is OK.

The warranty would be good worldwide.

It totally depends. There are few factors you should consider...

    1. Is the phone GSM or CDMA ? Only GSM phones work in New Zealand.

    2. Is the phone unlocked ? The phone must be unlocked for using in New Zealand.

    3. What's the 3G bands of the phone ? Check with your carrier is the 3G of the phone matches your carrier.

    4. The phone carries US Warranty only which means the warranty won't work in New Zealand.

Make these things clear, it won't be difficult for you. If you need any kind of assistance in buying the phone from Amazon or if you want one at reasonable price, you can mail me to arghyle@rocketmail.com
