Infinite number of files appearing on desktop?

I was trying to zip/compress a video from about 100mb to 20 mb with 7-zip. About half way through compressing it looked as if it froze, so i forced 7-zip to shut down. Now im getting a ton of "newfolderzip.1", "newfolderzip.2"......... on my desktop. I went to the My Pictures tab in the start menu an say that files were being created continuously in upwards of hundreds of thousands of files. So it seems as if this is in some sort of infinite loop and i dont know how to stop it. I will add that explorer.exe is also extremely high....534234kb(i think) for example and continuing to go up. How can i stop this process. my computer keeps crashing if i try and open more than one program. Also my computer even sounds as if its overworking itself.

You have installed spyware on your machine. You will need to start in safe mode with networking on a wired connection, wireless will not do this. Then download the free scanner from :

http://malwarebytes.org/ and run the full scan.
