Is it too late to start competitive curling?

I'm going to be 18 years old soon, and I've been intrigued by the sport of curling for several years now, especially after watching several of the Briar touraments on T.V. I realize that they play at a VERY high level, but I was wondering if it was too late to start learning and perhaps advance to that level at some point. I just discovered that the university I'm going too has an acclaimed curling arena, and I thought it'd be great opportunity to get involved.

What do you think?

It's never too late! I'm in my 40's and just started this year, playing in an organized league all with novices but we get help from more experienced curlers. its a lot of fun and way harder then it looks. its a lot like billiards not at all like shuffleboard.

it's definitely not too late for you to get into competitive curling. curling is one of the few sports that you don't have to start really young to be good at/get far in. i guess what i'm trying to get to is that the 'prime' for curlers is later than other sports so you shouldn't have any trouble starting at 18 which isn't old at all lol. i don't know where you live but i do know that the Utah Olympic Oval has occasional learn to curl classes which is pretty cool, at least to me. it does seem perfect that the college you're going to has an arena, so i'd say go right ahead and start curling!

I just wish I'd started that young. I started at 34. I never made it to a national but I did make the all star team at a provincial.
