  • How do you pursue deep friendships? How do I tell someone I really appreciate them?

I'm friendly, a goof, and have had many friends, but in terms of having a really good friend to talk to, I can't name anyone in my life who has played that roll. It might be because I'm shy, scared of embarrassing myself, or scared of trying and being hurt. I know is that I'm tired of playing relationships safe, because the more shallow they seem, the more lonely I feel. This reflection has made me realize I don't really know how to make close friends. I've tried just being myself, but I tend to coast and not be very intentional.

I started interning with another guy two months ago. We have a lot in common (same major, beliefs, movie tastes, personalities, etc.) , have hung out a quite bit and pranked the office together. We get along pretty well. I'm think they're super fun to be around, and he is totally someone I could see myself being really good friends with in the future. However, I am a poor conversationalist, and don’t know if he also want sot be friends or he’s just being polite.

We both work at a university, and are going back to School in September. We might see each other around, but I fear that when we get really busy, and stop hanging out. As a result, I feel like I should take a risk to try and deepen the friendship or see if he even wants to be good friends. I’ve thought of just telling him how I feel about it, but is it weird just to tell a friend how much you appreciate them? How would you do that? Should I think of something else?

  • Should I pursue graphic design?

For about half of my life I've wanted to be a pediatric cardiologist--a children's heart doctor--because of events that happened when I was young. I'm currently in my second year of undergraduate physiology, but I'm beginning to question this career path. The courses are getting intense, and the more and more detailed they become, the more discouraged and less motivated I become. As a result, I'm questioning if I really even enjoy the material. The education required for medicine is long and difficult (with good reason) and if this is something I'm passionate about, I'm more than happy to do it. However, I'm beginning to wonder if this is what I'm cut out for. I enjoy helping people and interacting with people, but I'm not sure if I'd be completely passionate about doing this for sick people.

For maybe 5 years or so I've dabbled in graphic design projects and web design more and more, and it's a field I've considered to be a hobby in my life. But, looking at the way I spend my time, this field is possibly something I'm more passionate about than medicine. I could see myself spending time reading about design (I even do now), whereas I fear I would dislike doing extensive medical reading in a future career. I find that if I have a graphic design project to do, as I do voluntarily for certain people, I'll make that a higher priority over schoolwork simply because I enjoy it more.

If I were to switch paths, my university offers a major in Art and design which would allow be to take several visual communication/graphic design courses, and, being a large university, I could take marketing, business and computer science classes as well to become more rounded.

The only thing I'm skeptical about is the salary. Graphic design is very competitive and there aren't enough jobs to go around. The jobs that do exist maybe make $40k on average. I know I want to have and be able to support a family one day, and I'm not sure graphic design will be able to do that for me. What should I do?

  • Is it too late to start competitive curling?

I'm going to be 18 years old soon, and I've been intrigued by the sport of curling for several years now, especially after watching several of the Briar touraments on T.V. I realize that they play at a VERY high level, but I was wondering if it was too late to start learning and perhaps advance to that level at some point. I just discovered that the university I'm going too has an acclaimed curling arena, and I thought it'd be great opportunity to get involved.

  • Would it be worth it to write this blog?

I want to write a blog about my findings as I chronologically read the chornicles of narnia, all seven volumes. I wanted to beriefly discuss it chapter by chapter and also discuss the christian paralells in the books. I understand several books have done stuff similar to this, so is it worth it? If so, how could I make it unique?

  • New laptop for uni...suggestions?

I'm heading off to university next year, and so I'm starting to look at new laptops, beacuase the one I have right now will NOT last my schooling...for sure.

I have a Dell Insprion 1525...I've had it for quite a few years, and I would say based upon my experience with Dell, and my Dad's experience with them, that I don't want to invest in another Dell laptop. I'm also not a Mac fan, either. I'm going to buy a PC, and so even though i realize that Mac specs may be impressive to some people, I'm not interested in switching OS when I know how to work windows.

I'm willing to pay the money at this point if it's worth it...I'm looking for a fast, powerful computer that will last...I'm not a gamer, so I don't need fancy video cards or anything.

    What would y'all reccomend?

  • Trinity Western University VS. University of Alberta?

I'm a HS student with an average of 90% and am serisously considering these two universites for a Bachelor of Science to help me get into Med School.

Trinity Western University has a good 'pre-med' program as well as a minor in biblical studies which I would like to take to deepen my Christian Faith. It also has numerous leadership opportunities which look great on Med school apps. Only downside is the tuition is insane.

University of Alberta has great research opportunities and more science class options. They also have an impressive lineup of alumni and perhaps a more known reputation.

Which would be a better choice, in your opinion?

  • What books of the Bible to read?

I've been a christian for pretty much my whole life, but studying the bible in depth hasn't been a regular part of my day. I would do small devotionals and such, but I've wanted to, lately, go more in depth and perhaps read a chapter or two a day. I tried doing the Bible in a Year plans, but I found myself sppedreading the Bible, which, in my opinion, is worthless. I'm looking for some suggestions of perhaps a book of the Bible I should go to to read 1-2 chapters a day and savor it over and over in the day to get more out of it. Any suggestions?

  • Help with titration calculations!?

    So...I did a titration with KMnO4 and FeSO4(NH4)2SO4*6H2O and found a concentration for KMnO4(aq) which is .0371 mol/L.

I had to do another titration where I titrated KMnO4(aq) with 10.0 mL of H2O2(l) and 5 mL of H2SO4(aq). I titrated until a pink color change, which was, on average, at 11.96 mL added.

How do I find the concentration of H2O2?
