a couple questions about my 7 month old?

1) when should i start feeding her meats and when for beginner finger foods? she will be 7 months on the 9th.

2) how will i know when to stop breastfeeding?

3) what are good ways to stimulate her learning at this age?

4) when my brother was a baby (14 years ago) i remember him having teething biscuits, biscuits that would not break no matter how hard he bit. anyone know where i can find those, if they're still around?

5) can carrots constipate my baby?

6) what foods may constipate baby?

7) shes making lots of noises, but not with consonants like baba or dada yet. should i be worried?

thank you everybody in advance :)

    - baby can eat meats as first foods. Any purée will be fine. Your baby will tell you when she's ready for finger foods. They need to have the ability to grasp food and get it into their mouths and that can ate a while.

    - you can stop breast feeding when your baby decides she doesn't want it anymore or when you feel it is time.

    - you are the best education. Sing, tell her what you are doing. Hold up objects and say what they are etc.

    - my baby has bit through all the teething biscuits so I stopped giving them to her. She would get huge chunks in her mouth.

    - raw carrots no. Cooked carrots are constipating! As is apple sauce. I was shocked to learn this when my pediatrician told us. Bananas and rice cereal are very constipation as well. Barley cereal is a better alternative.

    - she will start with the consonants one day. The most important thing is that she is talking.

    1) finger foods are fine right now, baby does not need teeth. and you can serve her soft meat like a mini 'baby burger' or meat loaf, or a soft piece of chicken finger food size.

    2) when baby is no longer interested (or around age 1 to 2)

    3) cause / effect toys, exploring her world

    4) teething biscuits, all mine would choke on these. they break off sharp jagged edges

    5) carrots are great!

    6) bananas, rice, apples, toast are all part of the BRAT diet to bulk up kids with diaherra

    7) noises are great!

    1) I waited for my doctor to tell me it was ok. when i brought my baby in for her 9 month appt he told me it was ok to start giving meats and finger foods like puffs or cheerios to see how she does with it, but if your baby gags at all, then she's not ready so you need to wait.

    2) after the baby turns 12 months old you can start weaning her off of breastmilk and start introducing regular cow's milk. don't switch cold turkey, do it gradually over a few weeks or month or so.

    3) at this age she will be watching you like a hawk, so just talk to her and point things out to her and she'll learn

    4) gerber makes biscuits, they sell them at walmart http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&rlz=1...

    5) i've never heard that carrots constipate. they have fiber, so they should actually help baby to poop

    6) foods with low fiber and lots of iron, like meat will constipate

    7) no don't worry, she'll do it soon.
