Camera suggestions for outdoor pictures?

I'm looking into buying a camera. I'd be taking a lot of outdoor pictures. I want something that is light and easy to carry (I hike a lot) as well as a decent price. Preferably under $350. While doing research I've come across lithium batteries are these really better?

look at the Canon S100. It's slim, super well built, great optics, and a great sensor.

it is a little over $350, but well worth it

if you can't do that, take a look at the Nikon P310 (around $260)

nicely the in truth sort that i advise is Canon. this is the most important employer and has an exceedingly solid call for a reason. Their optics and construct high quality talk for themselves. in case you're known with an SLR, then make certain you get a digicam that has guide controls besides because the classic automobile. That way you should use aperture and shutter priority and guide settings once you want to. (the settings will be AV, television and M on the selector dial) do not look at some thing with below 6MP-8MP. continuously look on the optical zoom length and by no skill the digital zoom. (you'll get cameras with a zoom of 3X, 4X, 6X as a lot as 12X with the lens variety of approx 100mm-400mm+) continuously use the optimal photo high quality putting available contained in the digicam. you'll want some quick playing cards (Sandisk extremely II or intense III are wonderful). playing cards are so low-cost now, so make investments in a minimum of a1GB card or one-2 512MB playing cards at least. you also want rechargeable batteries with numerous cameras (NiMh, 2500+)and a charger. some cameras notwithstanding, use a provided lithium battery. And its continuously a fantastic idea to have sound computer expertise and solid photo modifying software (that need no longer be too complicated...Adobe elements 4.0 or Paintshop professional 9 or X are solid) because to get ideal consequences with the images from a digicam you'll in many situations ought to 'tweak' them to get sharper images and modify them in a large number of alternative concepts... (straightening, cloning, cropping, assessment and brightness differences etc etc) Why, you ask? because you could! you'll by no skill get a fantastic huge angled shot with a normal digicam...their lenses are merely no longer huge sufficient. Thats what the SLR is for. for sure, once you've funds to burn, then you might want to continuously purchase a digital SLR with extra lenses (yet which will fee you heavily massive $) Its ideal to familiarise your self with a prosumer variety digicam first to get the feel of a digicam. I truly were utilising Canon digital cameras for years and that i, (besides as 1000's of others) were very pleased with the outcomes they provide me. do not overlook you may pay some extra money yet its nicely worth it contained in the destiny. right it really is the range available besides as numerous evaluate internet sites....

Canon S100 is best. And If you go for Canon S95 (not much features differences and same great performance), you would end up saving few bucks which you can use in buying memory card and so on.

You can see these samples taking with S95.

I would reccomend a bridge camera like this one. They are almost on par with higher end cameras like DSLR's, but can fit in your pocket and have a built in lens. This is a great option:
