How much is a 1,000 square apartment usually cost?
I found an room on craigslist. Its an extra room from somebody else that has a house and a bonus room that they are trying to rent out that is separate from the house. It has a bathroom and its 1,000 square foot. Its in a really nice suburb. I will be going there tomorrow to check it out but I want to know what I should be spending as far as rent. They haven't given me a price because they want to be fair. I don't want to over spend if I can avoid. Just give a general price or price range I should be expecting to spend at. I just want to get out of my parents house. Thanks!!
They said they would be reasonable so I want to get it at a bargain if I could. I'm 20 and I have a job, and a car. If I could get a price range it would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if you take home after taxes $2,000.00 per month, you should only pay $200.00 per month. If you take home $3,000.00 per month then you should only pay $500.00 per month. If you take home $4,000.00 you should only pay $900.00 per month. If you take home $5,000.00 per month you should only pay $1,400.00 per month. Remember, whatever you pay per month in rent, you "MUST" save HALF that amount and put it into savings. So, if you pay $200.00 per month in rent, then put $100.00 per month into your savings account. If you start learning this in the beginning, then you won't be asking Mom or Dad for rent money, or for your car, etc.....

Check out other rentals in the area about the same size. Call some apartment complexes and get an idea of what they charge. This will give you some market guidelines but the most important part is how much can you afford? Rent is considered affordable if you pay 1/3 to 1/4 of your month income for housing. Just go from there.

1,000 square feet is a lot for an apartment. For two rooms, that would be HUGE rooms. Depending on where you are, that could cost you a few thousand a month.
