Help with in-text citations?

I'm having trouble with in-text citations.

How do I handle a situation like this:

The Chernobyl Disaster was a catastrophic nuclear accident. "It was one of the most horrific events the world had ever seen," says John Doe.

This is just an example. It's not what my paper is about.

How do I cite the page of the source (John Doe's book) if I insert the quote in this format?

Update:

P.S. I would like to cite in MLA format. It's for a paper I have to hand in.

You would cite the source like this,

The Chernobyl disaster was a catastrophic nuclear accident accident. "It was one of the most horrific events the world had ever seen" (John doe's book page ___).

    Or

The Chernobyl disaster was a catastrophic nuclear accident accident. "It was one of the most horrific events the world had ever seen" said by John Doe in this book ______ page ____.

Hope this helps..... Good luck :D
